Hi there,

After lots of looking around I have today signed on the dotted line for a new Audi Q4 as my new company car.

I am quite lucky in that its a small company and the MD is pretty flexible when it comes to the car I run.

For tax purposes I wanted to go all electric and buying new means the company gets some great tax perks thanks to the current government schemes in respect of first year allowance against cooperation tax.

So having looked at Mercedes EQA, VW ID4 and Skoa Enyaq IV I have today settled on a Q4.

The dealer had a car already specified and in the system which is due to arrive in early November.

Colour wise its Aurora Violet metallic which in the flesh is stunning, the configurator on the Audi site shows it much lighter than it is in the flesh.

I have gone for the 40 model (max range and decent performance) and the S Line trim level.

A few optional extras inc comfort and sound pack, ambient lighting and flat top/bottom steering wheel.

Counting the days now, super excited to get the car and will be sharing my thoughts on here once it arrives.

Regards

Tim

That looks really nice.

My Model S goes back next July and after four years with it, I’m already excited to consider alternatives!

Very nice OP, the colour look great in the flesh.

Our Model 3 goes back next month so we're jumping into an e-Tron 55 Black Edition for a while and looking forward to the change. Very different approach to the EV than Tesla with comfort/refinement/luxury being the priorities so will be an interesting comparison.

Looks great and good news that you are getting it in November. We have ordered a 50 Quattro for my wife but it is 20-24 weeks delivery so no date yet from the factory. Probably next year. Looking forward to it.

We initially went to order one of these through our works salary sacrifice scheme but the only ones they had for "soonish" delivery were base models with the hideous wheels and cloth seats. Was quoted 22 weeks for delivery so went for a Model 3 instead as that was "only" 14 weeks (But ended up being 8).

The side-on photo above does look the business though.

Out of interest what monthly payments are you getting for these cars on your schemes? The rates on ours seem high. A bmw i3 is over £600 a month.

Audi has some great colors these days. Their dark green (I've also seen it on Skodas) especially.
Always nice to see someone got one in anything else than resale grey.

Great pick!

One question: can anyone enlighten me on the "40" denomination? Does it have a real meaning? I've seen it on A3/A4 as well...

Thanks,

Not sure what the 40 is on A3's etc but on the Q4 eTron there is a 35, 40 and 50 and these are different battery capacities.

35 - 125kW
40 - 150 kW
50 - 220kW

Hi,

Not sure for me I'm afraid as its being bought outright by the company I work for so they can take advantage of the tax breaks.

I believe all electric cars are notoriously more expensive than petrol/diesel ones.

Ok, but those numbers are power, not battery capacity?

I think Audi are rolling this out across the range both ICE and electric. It denotes the power (BHP) of the car. I think the idea is that with ICE cars the performance is now more determined by the turbo set up than the engine size plus I suspect they want to hide the 4 cylinder downsizing of their more powerful models by emphasising that the power hasn’t changed. The standard Q4 is about 200bhp and called a 40. We have ordered a 50 which will have almost 300 bhp when it finally arrives.

That makes sense, did briefly look up the A3 40 and apparently that's a 200hp A3 as well, so at least some consistency is nice there.
However, it still seems like an arbitrary number to me?

Hi,

Found this in an Autocar article when Audi first started using this system

There are now eight new model designations:

- 30 for models with between 81 and 96kW (107 and 127bhp)

- 35 for models with between 110 and 120kW (145 and 159bhp)

- 40 for models with between 125 and 150kW (165 and 198bhp)

- 45 for models with between 169 and 185kW (223 and 244bhp)

- 50 for models with between 210 and 230kW (278 and 304bhp)

- 60 for models with between 320 and 340kW (423 and 449bhp)

- 70 for models with more than 400kW (529bhp)

Also JCT600 have just put an S Line in Aurora Violet up for sale, it really is quite dark and nothing like on the configurator

Yep, utterly random and difficult to remember. The eTron 55 for example has 402bhp so falls between 55 and 60 according to the below. They then call the higher performance model the S, rsther than the 65..

Thanks, that clears up a lot.
Seems like they need to add some numbers for more EVs hehe

One of those colours that changes significantly dependent on the weather. Looks a lot more like the configurator with some sun on it.

I like it. Just a shame about all of the light grey plastic trim..

Probably an optional "black pack" available, non?
