Any reason not to get the e tron? I know it is older but the stats seem very similar.

Price and size are different though?

Ah I didn't realise it's about 50% more expensive

Probably an optional "black pack" available, non?
Hi,

Its standard on the Edition 1 but don't think it can be spec'd on the other trim levels.

They'll do a "Black Edition" at some point with different wheels and black bits as per the larger eTron I'm sure. Usually show up a year or two after launch to drum up interest.

In case anyone is interested in trying one of these on.to have just added the exact spec the OP has ordered to their list. https://on.to/electric-cars/audi-q4-40-e-tron-s-li...

£999 a month, which for a 1 month commitment including 1k miles, insurance, public charging and maintenance appears to stack up very well against 2 year lease deals without any of the extras?

I ordered a 40 S Line with a tech pack back in June. I’m being told I won’t get it until early next year.
That’s the VAG’s own fleet side as we’ve just moved from Lease Plan.
No lead in times on their ordering platform. So although it should be a good family bus, I probably would have considered an alternative.
Not that I particularly liked it but I could have had a EQA in 6 weeks.

Hi there,

A little update on this, dealer has dropped me a message today to say car is built and now awaiting shipping.

Hopefully not too much longer to wait.

Hi,

Car not due to arrive with dealer until Wednesday so collection day moved to a week today.

Got reg number, sorted insurance and car has been paid for so we are good to go.

I just got one of these. Yes, it seems to use about 50% less electricity than the big brother (55 quattro) and B mode is nice for regen, but apart from that, I'm not impressed with the car.

Awful thumpy ride on 20 inch rims, podgy steering and handling, so slow even in Dynamic mode, and the pedestrian warning noise is so intrusive in the cabin vs the 55 quattro (maybe far less insulation?)

Thankfully, it's a rental. Can't wait to hand it back.

You're the second person to leave exactly this feedback directly after running an etron 55. Assume you are also with on.to along with Toaster Pilot?

Was considering swapping myself as my only real issue with the 55 is the size of the thing, but based on what I'm hearing I think I'll stick with what I have. The ride, comfort and general sense of luxury are a revelation after 2 years in a Model 3 so don't want to give that up.

Yes, with on.to

I drive in and around Central London every day, I never did find the size of the 55 quattro to be an issue.

The Q4 e-tron doesn't feel significantly smaller or more agile than the 55 quattro, imho. When making rapid progress, I actually feel that the 55 quattro was more surefooted and planted to the road than the Q4. Jumping out of the 55 and into the Q4, my first thought was, is one of the windows slightly open, I can hear so much more noise from outside the car. The windows were all closed, I guess it has either thinner glass and/or less insulation than the 55.

I would keep the 55 e-tron unless you really want to try out the newer Q4 e-tron. Even though it's not a car for me, I can see how the Q4 e-tron will appeal to many though, so it's likely to be a big seller for Audi in the UK.

I fully charged it this morning (it's literally got 100 miles on the clock from new) and it's estimating range of 267 miles at 4C. Better than the 180-200 miles range I would get from the 55 in similar temp.

Hi,

Interested to read the feedback, tomorrow is collection day for me so I will share my thoughts once I have drive it home.

I have not driven a 55 eTron so cannot compare it to that but lets see how I get on.

A quick screen grab from the video the dealer sent me

The Q4 e-tron is definitely more efficient than the 55 quattro. I was getting 3.4 m/kwh at 7am on <2 mile journey with a cold battery when temp was 4C (climate control was off though)

I had some more short trips during the rest of the morning, but used the climate control for those trips, and efficiency really took a nose dive, down to 2.3 m/kwh, even with a super light foot and car in efficiency mode.

I'd certainly hope so? Smaller, lighter, less performance, essentially like comparing a Q5 2.0-4 to a Q7 3.0-V6. It's also only single motor I believe so no AWD?

Hi there,

Ok so today was collection day.
Three trains down from Staffordshire to Newbury and a short stretch of the legs up to the showroom to be greeted by the car outside.

I actually walked past it first as the colour was not as bright as I thought (although it was a bit overcast) and I thought the one to my left as I headed towards the showroom was black hehe

A great hand over from Jeremy at Newbury Audi and a good tour of all the gadgets and gizmos plus a well needed cuppa.

Headed off around 3pm for the 150 mile drive home which I knew would be a slowish one with it being a Friday afternoon/evening.

An accident on the M40 saw me nip across the A43 (again really slow) to pick up the M1. All told the journey was 3 hours and 143 miles.

Got home with the car showing 88 miles of charge remaining. (it was 273 when I left the dealers) which I think it pretty decent. Temperature was 2-5 degrees C for most of the journey and I had the AC and my heated seat on.

Really pleased with the car overall, its comfy, really well equipped and looks great. The few options I had were worthwhile especially the adaptive cruise which was a god send in motorway traffic.

Some pics below
