Nope but we all like to cover old ground relentlessly and occasionally discuss / moan about something new. I guess Uber could have been removed from the title but now they have a deal with Hertz and Tesla to use Tesla's for Uber I guess it should stay.

They do have a deal right? biggrin

In other news, the top spec Model S can now have brakes that work - for $20000 extra eek They sure know how to milk their loyal customers....

I'm wondering when they were going to do ceramic coating (not full ceramic). I've recently seen a video of a TMS with well over 300k km on the original rotors. Corrosion is more an issue than actual wear.

Why 20k USD though for ceramic brakes? Porsche do them for less than half that on the Taycan (Turbo only).
Sounds to me like you could source those third party much cheaper?

The kit is front and rear rotor, calipers, pads, park brake calipers and fluid. No mention of upgraded lines but they may be braided already?

I still suspect the well covered Plaid brake failures are nothing more than ham fisted driving, with 1000+ bhp and a lot of weight to stop you would need to manage the brakes carefully to stop overheating or just the pads being destroyed. Seems like the usual types have just hammered the car relentlessly with zero finesse until the brakes cooked and sent them off into the barriers.

The kit isn't available until Mid 2022 (so 2023 in Tesla time) so it'll be a long wait to see if they're any good for the $20k.

In other news, yet another Tesla self combusts while charging. It's happening so often now, barely anyone bothers commenting

At least drop Uber from the thread title. It’s pure Tesla now.

Why is Uber more likely to survive than Tesla, and why won't this thread just die. One way or another they will both survive.

Uber really is a POS. Life to date it's lost 25B and no sign of profit. And yet the company is valued at $80B.

They have no experience / RnD with ceramics so no parts bin to raid cheaply

The plaid is an utter bargain at 120k

hehe

Iirc in the US it's in the top 10 of horsepower/$, with the others mainly being American muscle cars.

From a performance stand point, especially here in Europe, it's almost unbeatable.

I did wonder about that.
Is the consensus that this is just about Tesla now?

its been 99% Tesla for a very long time

Sandy Munro released a video with a lot of interesting stats on how Tesla is going to be very strong in the US market but the Chinese are going to dominate like the Japanese did

VW debt is a non event. It's the financial services arm. They could sell it off if they wanted to but it makes money. Same with Ford and GM. Stories like this are written by people that don't have a clue about accounting. BMW has 100b

Does it make sense to remove Uber from the title and move this thread to the Tesla section, or just leave it as it?

Remove Uber, if you want to let this thread fade away move it to the Tesla section, no one really goes in there whistle
