Hey everyone.

Appreciate the comments on FlashCharge. So to answer some of them!

No, did not inherit a load of dosh..just invested in solving a problem.

Not a mad idea, just a safety net to help people in EV's as the infrastructure grows..( I don't belief it will every reach the numbers needed for 35 Million vehicles though people want to drive as they have been for the last 50 years)

I have investigated all options to deliver the service and this is the most cost effective currently.

Good guess work on the numbers..very close. Reason for the costs is to ensure people do not rely on it as a primary place to charge.

I was never aiming this as replacement for public charging, it is an emergency service but prioritised for EV owners. Please remember, not everyone is as diligent as many petrol heads. FlashCharge is there "When your plans don't go to plan".

As in any business, you will never make all the people happy, all of the time...just some of the people some of the time.

If any of you do encounter a mishap, I will never refuse to help...Even Tesla drivers.

Any questions, drop me a line

See you on the road

Phil

I'm amazed that a lot of people seem to be positive about this. It's a ridiculous idea and it provides far more fuel for the anti-EV FUD machine than any possible good it'll ever do.

Yes, the marketing stunt they're doing by pitching up at Gloucester services when it's busy does well to show Gridserve that the capacity there is far lower than demand, but that's about the only good thing I can see (and I'm sure they already know that, anyway!)

I don't understand the business model in the slightest. It'd be like the AA offering you emergency fuel at £6 a litre - you're not going to choose to use it if you have ANY other option, are you? Why would you pay for this when your breakdown service will get you to a charger anyway, and you're already paying for that?
Hi Toaster
Love you channel on Youtube BTW.

Cannot see what this adds fuel to the proverbial ICE fire.
For the 16 people I assisted in December, they were all content that such as service exists.

Yes, You can use the AA or RAC but you are in the queue with the ICE members. Also as one of my customers has experienced, a 1 hour wait, no recharge available no recharge unit in area, accompanied to another Rapid Charge, out of service, then left at hotel for recovery next day. I got there at 11 and he was on his way with 120 miles in 40 mins.

The big three get you to the next charger...not a guaranteed working charger

What charger are you using?

Can it do "800V" vehicles to save stranded buses and trucks?

I just did - deeply disappointing. Most results are about some computer game.
