It shouldn’t unlock if the car is locked or you don’t have the key on you.

For most home chargers the cable doesn't lock in the charger, just the car. But in 5 years of being in the EV industry I have to say I've never heard of it happening.
Really? I thought they all locked both ends. Maybe it just happens that both our chargers do.
No, not home ones generally. Some are also too small to fit the locking mechanism in. The socket/connectors fit pretty tightly too.
As I understand it, only the earlier, passive and mode 2 'chargers' would allow the cable to be removed. All the type 2 socket 7.2kw mode 3 chargers lock at the charger end too: https://www.es-store.co.uk/documents/product/Guide...

This was bought in specifically to deter theft - otherwise the thief only has to unplug the charger end of the cable and they then know it's no longer live, and can within seconds cut the other end from the car and be on their way.

Yeah, I have a tiny EO Mini charger and that locks the cable so I don't think size is relevant.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't...

Hmmmm, a bit of research and I see you're not the only one to say that including EO themselves... apologies!

I'd assumed it did from the loud click it makes when it starts, and I could have sworn the cable won't pull out when in use but obviously I'm mistaken.

ETA I've also checked your profile as well, my bad!
