So where, exactly, are they putting the £21 litre of oil when they 'top up'?The Honda dealer we wouldn't go near anymore used to include it as part of the "premium service upgrade" - for £35. They get the hump when you refuse it. I wouldn't mind, but Hondas aren't known for using oil between services. I don't suppose electric Jags are any worse.

Works Service (Aston) charged me £12.50 labour + VAT to fit the umbrella in the boot in my Vanquish. It's two velcro straps. This was within a £13k bill for some other stuff I had done.
Maybe they had to ‘depackage’ the umbrella from the cellophane before installing it within the two ‘self-gripping fastening system’ (copyright Tudor) loops?!To be fair to Works Service, it’s a beautiful place that must cost plenty of money to keep going

Breaking news... Expensive car requires expensive service...
I jest, however my 4 year old Golf is going in for a service with a VW dealer next week and I don't expect them to do much more than change the oil (hopefully), pretend to change the spark plugs, pretend to change the pollen filter etc, and then tell me that my new tyres and brake pads/discs need replacing.
£364 notes.
VW stealer told me that my Golf R is a high performance car so I should expect it to be expensive to service. It needs servicing every 12 months. My Porsche GT3 (that revs to 9000rpm and makes the Golf R feel like driving a Transit van in comparison) only needs servicing every two years.I jest, however my 4 year old Golf is going in for a service with a VW dealer next week and I don't expect them to do much more than change the oil (hopefully), pretend to change the spark plugs, pretend to change the pollen filter etc, and then tell me that my new tyres and brake pads/discs need replacing.

Either way, I'm sorry to hear that your car is perceived to be not much better than a transit van.

Our local JLR dealer wanted £360 to supply and fit each tyre for our iPace. The independent down the road did it for £240 a tyre..
They would basically have made a profit of over £300 for the two tyres we needed, and fitting two tyres takes one person about 10 minutes if they're well rehearsed.
It's a bit of a joke. I'm sure they'd actually sell more tyres and make more money overall if they charged a slight premium over the independents - as opposed to this example where they charged +50% above the independent!
But they don't want to start selling tyres. They want to sell a smaller number of things at a higher price to wealthier customers. It makes good business sense and has always been this way in dealerships. They would basically have made a profit of over £300 for the two tyres we needed, and fitting two tyres takes one person about 10 minutes if they're well rehearsed.

apparently due to covid restrictions, they didn't even wash it or top up the screen wash
It seems covid is now being used as an excuse for sh*t customer service.Something takes ages to arrive by courier... because covid
My local Starbucks has stopped giving out ceramic mugs and gives your £4 coffee in a paper cup... because covid. Do they not wash their ceramic mugs? Can I only catch covid from a ceramic mug but not from the table or chairs?
Booked on app
App asked if i wanted to authorise £10 charge for washer fluid (it knew !!)
Droped car off, get SMS confirming car had been dropped off and at what time.I assume the site is geofenced.
Work done, car washed
SMS to come get car
Picked car up, SMS to confirm I had collected car
Never saw a human, no key to hand in, it was pretty impressive

I heard on the radio that new Ipace sales were struggling, hmmm I wonder why
because they're unreliable pieces of tat - with extremely poor dealer and customer service backup? Our issues - 4 new cells in our battery (5 weeks off the road - took 13 weeks to resolve), as well as new windscreen, sound proofing and interior carpet - due to a leak (2 weeks off the road, 7 weeks to fix after first reporting the problem)

Have owned a Jaguar XF for years, hourly rate was EUR 100 which is relatively high.
I've owned an EV for over 2 years now and needed nothing so far.
That service is a joke and I'd request a breakdown of the invoice.

In all fairness to Jaguar, there are plenty of stories about Etrons (even on this forum), Taycans and Tesla's. It's new technology and a lot of them just don't know how to handle it yet or have to wait for a specialist from HQ or the like.Mikebentley said:
I read somewhere Volvo were moving to a non dealer based business. Is this likely they have already worked out the future is sell online then don’t even service EVs. Maybe only have tyre, brakes and coolant centres.
They're moving towards a lease only model - all costs covered Inc insurance for a monthly payment. So are other firms, albeit less openly than Volvo.killysprint said:

Lost count of the number of times I've been given the bill, said "errr.... you told me £xxx" and they've said "sure, no problem".
Apart from Mitshubishi, who flatly denied they'd given the price they said (they'd given it twice) and then said it's because they always quote ex-VAT (invoice was 50% higher than quote).
Which is why I ask for the price in an email.Apart from Mitshubishi, who flatly denied they'd given the price they said (they'd given it twice) and then said it's because they always quote ex-VAT (invoice was 50% higher than quote).
It avoids the "no, you said" scenario.

I have had mine for 13 months now and it hasn’t missed a beat. Fantastic car IMHO.
We have a couple at our Netherlands office (since end 2019) and both managers rate them very highly. Haven't had any real issues with them either. They do seem a bit more picky to get the charging right at the office re the order of plugging in the cable/locking the car compared to the Tesla's, but other than that they have been great.Gassing Station | EV and Alternative Fuels | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
