Yup, there was a BW 4 speed. Probably more popular than the ZF4.

The key with all three is that an axial motor would sit in the bell housing space while the gearbox section would just contain the right mechanical single gearing for output to the existing prop etc. All you'd then need to be doing is welding on appropriate brackets for each gearbox type.

When you consider how much those older wafters tried to hide all engine noise, all engine vibration, softened the line pressures on the auto box to get those changes as smooth as possible the likes of Jag and Rolls were simply trying to replicate the EV drivetrain as best as possible with the tools they had available.

200kw would probably be perfect, especially given the wall of torque that would shift those heavy old cars very nicely.

I reckon my MGB GT would be a great candidate. It already has a replacement engine so no worries about originality.

Quite seriously thinking about it.
