Love the looks and the handling. It\s smooth, compliant and rear wheel drive. The thing that's struck me the most if the overtaking ability - overtake on a country road and it's very agile from say 40mph to 60mph.

Pains me to say it but I don't know if would go back to an ICE now. They feel clunky, noisy and rough.

I have had very positive experiences when public charging. Due to have an EV charger fitted at home this week. Home Solar PV and Home Battery / Invertor. When combined with an Octopus style electric tariff it should be cheap and joyful motoring.

On a fina note, the car software has been a breeze and the whole haptic thing is 100% fine also. Older cars suffered of course but the software is improving all the time.

Had a few strangers comment about the looks. I have Vapour Grey and think it looks fantastic with the copper accents

Completely agree - I salary sacrificed a Born for my wife. She got it Mid March and has done just over 11,000 miles since then. Averaged 3.8m/kWh with mainly motorway driving, so very impressed with that.

Far prefer it to drive to my E350d. So much so, that I've sacked it off over a year early (lease wasn't due to finish till Oct '24), but I found it infuriatingly clunky, unrefined, imprecise and hesitant when jumping into it after driving the Born. I'm opting back in and getting an ID3 as a company car which is due to be delivered 1st Sep.

So we'll then be 100% electric as a household* you could say I'm sold on them!

Going back a few years I asked for an E350d demo when my C Class was in for service and was so disappointed by it. I honestly thought they't they'd given me a 4cyl 250 until I checked under the bonnet.

I'd set aside some time to take it for a drive and I couldn't be bothered - just drove it home and then back to the dealer.

You clipped off the vital bit there… it’s really that electric drivetrain has moved the game on.

The 350d with 286hp and 0-62 in 5.5 isn’t slow if you’re on it, but, and this is the point, you need to work it to get to peak power and torque. For daily driving, EV is just so much more effective and accessible.

Sure - but it was more that, surprisingly to me, the E Class wasn’t the reference point many might think is.

I recently had an ID.3 for a couple of days and thought it was “fine”. It just did its job. With only a few erroneous warnings.

Just had my Cupra Born delivered - wow it’s a bit complicated but I’m sure I’ll get there.

It has wireless phone charging but my phone isn’t compatible so I wanted to use the front USB ports. Plugged in the cable and it seems there isn’t any ports in there. The connector just falls out, like it is just a hole rather than a USB C connector.

Rear ones work fine.

Have Cupra just forgotten to install the ports?

That’s odd! Ours has a port in the under arm test cubbie hole. Might even be two in there, can’t remember,
the ID3 has two there.

Oh and tap rather than slide the steering wheel buttons and heater controls - they actually work then

Thanks, sound like I need to take it to the dealer. Probably just not clipped in place.

Waiting for the delivery of a “stock” Born.. order placed at the end of august through a salary sacrifice scheme. Many appear to be in the same boat, and no real timescale for getting the coolant pump recall resolved. Frustrating!
