Having been almost certain I was going to choose the Cupra I’ve gone a completely different way and ordered a Mercedes’ EQA 350 AMG.

Thanks for the advice and insight though.

Interesting choice, but quite a step up in cost. I think there are many EVs I'd prefer for the £56k list price. What impressed you?

It’s a very good question.

The main driver is actually costs.

It’s a company car and we are allowed to make a contribution towards it to get a nicer car.

A Cupra born to the spec I wanted would have cost £65 a month. The Mercedes…. £45.

The EQA has a nicer interior, is quicker 0-60 (6 seconds) , has 4 wheel drive, can actually tow something should it be necessary and is certified for a roof box (the Cupra isn’t)

The most important part is I found the EQA to be a much more comfortable ride.

I’m also a sucker for the three pointed star…. (I know that’s sad , you don’t have to tell me)

Really, the bottom line is the more expensive car has a significantly lower cost…..

Can't argue with that!

Just collected a V2 Born, after 3 years in an i3S.

Would have stayed with another i3S but it turned up with the comically small main screen due to parts delays so passed on it.
Was lucky to get an in stock Born, anyone else have one as have a question?

Apart from some ill fitting trim on the dash below the screen it seems well built, but I prefer the regen braking on the i3, is there a setting to adjust it?

The haptic buttons are OK but the volume up and down on the steering wheel appear to have no effect at all.

My misses has one so can try and answer the question.

Regarding the regen if you put it in cupra or individual the regen becomes stronger. You can also rotate the gear selector one click after D to B which will again increase the regen if that's what you are looking for. I personally find the standard regen fine, the sportier modes almost push you forward put of your seat when you come off the throttle.

Lovely car overall though. Loads of tech, quiet, comfy. No complaints from us and over 1200 miles now.

Thanks - still think the regen is soft compared to i3 though.

Volume buttons on steering wheel do work after all, but in a nonsensical way..

Am I right in thinking the sharper you lift off in the i3, the harder it regens? Lift off slowly and it'll regen less? I can't tell if it's my imagination or if that's how it's designed.

Picked mine up Sunday. Lovely car. Can’t believe how fast it feels though it must be in my head as 7.3 seconds to 60 isn’t fast. The 0-30 certainly is, I seem to leave everyone for dead without even trying at all. I haven’t even tried performance mode at all.
Anyhow didn’t buy it for performance, just wanted a new car and an EV seemed the way forward.
It works is as we do relatively low miles. Best car I’ve had by a long way.

Only issues are

As above- volume buttons of steering wheel appear near useless. I really wish they were actual buttons. They modernised something that didn’t need it.
Software. I can’t long on to my Cupra. So always as a guest. Message is something went wrong, but ‘success’ on my phone app.
Paint defect which was unlucky…

Other than that. Can’t see my parting with it for a long while.

Nice! That blue is lovely.

I hear the buttons are slide panels not buttons if that helps. You have to put your finger on it then slide up and down to change volume and not pressing it. Not sure if I’m trying to teach a grandmother to suck eggs here biggrin

That's how regen works on all EV's yes. Takes a bit of time to get used to but works brilliantly around town once you have.

Different manufacturers set ip up at different levels. Our Tesla and i3 were very similar, on our etron it's definitely not as strong even on max setting and wonlt bring you to a complete stop.

I am looking at this car for my wife, she does a 40km daily commute down a dual carraigeway and we can get this model on a private lease for about £250 per month (local offer in Sweden). Considering we spend almost that on petrol it seems to make sense, even if there are any irritations.

Would love to hear more feedback on this car as I am close to putting in an order.

Had ours a couple of weeks now, and with free charging at work and local tescos, so far cost us zero in fuel 🤣

Lovely car to drive and still not seen another around, will be ditching the pretentious green plates shortly though!
and so smooth, even on the 19s

Last week there was a software update so the niggles have been sorted, still Would prefer dials rather than touchscreen though!

It's a nice looking car, I'm very tempted even if it's the wife who will drive it most of the time.

Have you activated the e-sim in the car? Has to be done before the app stuff works and Seat/VAG are useless at telling people this.

You need the VIN and then have a google, there is a SEAT page for you to log in to and activate it. Takes a couple of days.
