You need the VIN and then have a google, there is a SEAT page for you to log in to and activate it. Takes a couple of days.
Thanks for this. I managed to update the software and at last got it sorted! Never thought I would.

This car is by far the best car I’ve ever owned but I hate the over reliance on tech. It’s the future though it seems!

Spotted two today. One drove past me on the school run and another parked up. They really are quite a striking looking car - still can't decide how I'd spec one, so been looking on AutoTrader instead.

Had my first look at a Born a few days ago after chatting to an owner in passing.

Great looking car, in Aurora Blue with copper highlights. Real head-turner. Sadly, that's where the love ended...

Dreadful low-rent interior with horrible plastics and cheap-looking seat cloth, and the sound of tapping various panels was just unbelievable on a £35-40k car. The owner wasn't impressed, and I could only agree.

The owner also hated the touch buttons on the wheel and said accidental contact was something that was hard to work around. The infotainment, while marginally better than VW, still isn't good (his words, not mine, I didn't try it).

Swing and a miss, Cupra. A read looker for sure, but you can't see that from the inside, and that is not a cabin I'd want to spend any time in.

In balance though, the owner was, overall, enjoying it, but I don't think he'd have ordered one if he'd seen it in advance.

All SEATs are like that - I assumed they do it on purpose to differentiate from VW.

Who fixes these things if they go wrong? The multi-franchise dealer my daughter's SEAT Ateca goes to only has two SEAT mechanics and the service manager told me with holidays / sickess / training etc it's not often they're both in. The dealerhip generally seems useless but SEAT dealers are thin on the ground.

I would absolutely give it a pass if it had a SEAT badge on it, and was £7k cheaper. It's a shame the Cupra badge is just that, a badge. I see no harm in lifting the quality of Cupra up to VW entry level, or maybe on a par with VRS, something like that.

I admit I've never seen the inside of another Cupra though, ICE or BEV.

I'm not sure that differentiation exists anymore, if you spend a bit of time in an IDx.

No they aren't. They pretty much match whatever standard has been set by VW for a particular segment. Same goes for Skoda. Leon/Golf/Octavia or Ateca/Karoq/Tiguan cabins are all very similar with the same switch gear and controls. The mk8 Golf has worse interior quality than the mk7, so the mk 4 Leon has a worse interior than the mk3.

The Cupra Born interior is a bit naff because it's based on the VW ID3 interior, which is naff, having been deliberately built down to a price.

People are so fussy these days.

I’ve driven all sorts, truly. The Born is hands down the best car I’ve ever driven. The true definition of effortlessly quick, spacious, good looking, and well built.

The interior is very nice, with suede like material in places and squidgy plastics (if this bothers you) where you’d expect them.

If you want a ton of cows in your interior get a Bentley!

actually I found ID.3 interior material no better or Born no worse. They are not comparable with Golf but I would say at least on par with Polo
I found born better looking both inside and outside, have a better colour scheme and have the advantage of power boost

Some say you can have a bit of fun with the higher spec Borns, play a bit with the rear and all that good stuff. Is that so? I found the ID3 and ID4 dull to drive so I would be somewhat surprised if Seat could sprinkle much magic on that platform but always happy to learn...

Anyone bought one and any longer term views on it?

Looking at ordering one via company scheme, only other alternative that offers similar performance and equipment is an MG4, but v reluctant to buy that due to MG's Chinese Govt links - no problem with them having my data but I don't want to give my money to a repressive government.

Yup, ran ours now for over 6 months and 5000miles, great car let down by buggy tech, but that seems to be the way with all VW group cars now and you get used to the randomness of it.
Its expensive compared to the MG4 but I drove one of my collogues one at work and thought it felt very cheap by comparison, the Born feels like a fun hatch where the MG4 felt like a cheap city car.

The Cupra I tried was very poor (awful controls for the nav/entertainment, the appalling touch sensitive steering wheel controls, uncomfortable seats, significant road noise, too aggressive regen when not in regen mode, ludicrous position for the gear lever, poor acceleration even in ‘sport’ mode, and the interior trim is not very nice).

However it was better than the MG4. Far better.

That car is absurd how they are using a ‘one size’ chassis that is intended for a larger vehicle for this size of the MG4. It means the sill widths are enormous so you have to make a conscious effort to step over them, and when you close the door the placement of the seats is ludicrous with a massive gap between your arm and the door trim.

And that’s before you get to the petty cost cutting on the base model that would have made British Leyland proud.

Thought I would revitalise this thread rather than starting a new one. Long term Born owners feel free to chip in.

I've just placed an order on a (new to me) Born (77kwh, V2) but have a few days in which I could change my mind (software updates currently underway)

I looked at the id3 quite closely as my daughter has one but I much prefer the looks of the Born even though its like-for-like about 2k more expensive than the equivalent id3. In any event its probably a bit weird to have the same car!

i had a look at the MG4 which has very good spec on paper and looks nice front the front but the back is a mess and the dealers feel a bit low rent. I also looked at the polestar and mustang but they're too long for my garage!!

Have I missed anything in a similar price bracket that offers 300+ miles of range?

I’ve drive. 58kWh V2 a couple of times and I think it’s great. The driving assistance with AR HUD is pretty impressive too. Super smooth car and the styling really cohesive.

For me it’s a great car, yes the screen is laggy and yes there are far too many annoying ‘driver aids’ which you can’t turn off permanently.

But it’s 58kwh and easily gets 220 miles across a week of short journeys (ie not in one trip) which beats my 75kwh Tesla model s.

It’s nice to drive, ok not the fastest car in the world, but I would definitely recommend one

Tool delivery of a V2 Cupra Born a few weeks ago on a Salary Sacrifice Lease. A no brainer with the BIK and tax incentives.

Love the looks and the handling. It\s smooth, compliant and rear wheel drive. The thing that's struck me the most if the overtaking ability - overtake on a country road and it's very agile from say 40mph to 60mph.

Pains me to say it but I don't know if would go back to an ICE now. They feel clunky, noisy and rough.

I have had very positive experiences when public charging. Due to have an EV charger fitted at home this week. Home Solar PV and Home Battery / Invertor. When combined with an Octopus style electric tariff it should be cheap and joyful motoring.

On a fina note, the car software has been a breeze and the whole haptic thing is 100% fine also. Older cars suffered of course but the software is improving all the time.

Had a few strangers comment about the looks. I have Vapour Grey and think it looks fantastic with the copper accents

Cheers !

My work is just about to start a salary sacrifice lease scheme (with Tusker I think it is?). I'm having to wait until it's all set up to find out how much this scheme will cost me as no prices will show up without a log on code.
