I think it is just the fear of the unknown. I have an EV and am totally in favour of them but I'm off to Headlingley for the cricket next week (110 miles each way) and I'm thinking of taking the Porsche as I'd need to top up on the way back and I'm worried about the availability of charging. I was like that the first couple of long distance trips. But along any lengthy journey there are so many public chargers these days, even a half hour at a common as muck 50kw charger would gift you another 60+ miles range.Better than a weekly pilgrimage to the petrol station!

Absolutely, especially considering that I would have been stopping for food anyway so it didn't cost me any time. In fact with better research I could have probably found a charger with better food on hand but there we go!
On longer trips we sometimes stop at interesting towns with chargers for a lunch break. Very often the charger bays in the car parks are in the best places and quite often free if you're charging. In York last year we were able to park near the river and a few minutes walk from a lovely restaurant on the riverbank. It was a better experience than pulling into a BP!bigothunter said:

When I reached that point in my professional life, I considered myself a professional driver.That said, as above, most Tesla's will quite happily do that.

I also don't know why he stated a 50kW charger, anything below 100kW is not for travel imho. 150kW gives you easily 3h of driving for every 30 min break.And again, I used to have to fill up every day/every other day for a while. Now in the EV I can cover 50 000km/year without ever having to stop for a charge.
