I see most EVs have aero alloys, which to me look dreadful.

But…. How much difference do they make to range etc…. Are we talking 2 miles a ‘tank’ (whatever EV equivalent is!) 5 miles, 25 miles?

Anyone know?

I see the Tesla Model 3 looks much better without the aero caps on and likewise a Taycan with the option alloy instead of that hideous polished flat thing. I saw an Etron GT which looked great but the wheels ruined it. Would swapping them for a lovely conventional alloy truly ruin range?

The aero wheel covers on the Model 3 improve range by around 4% according to this test:

Mrs Scrump recently commented that she really likes the wheels on our neighbour’s Model 3, the car has the aero covers, apparently they are ‘futuristic’.

It’s a bit jetsons for me! Like back to the future I feel style history won’t look fondly on these! Maybe I’m stuck in past

I can't stand the silly aero alloys. Fine, they buy you a little extra range at higher speeds... But unless you frequently need to use the full range your EV has then just don't worry about it and choose the wheels that suit the car best smile

It's the same as the debate on wheel size reducing range, it does. But to most people, the bigger wheels will look better and make them happier than getting an extra ten miles before having to charge.
