The Tesla S is still the car to beat.

The 3, is great, the Y is a fat 3
Wife is super happy with her 3 SR+

When our diesel Touareg becomes too old, I will look for a Tesla S
not driven the very latest refreshed S but the 3 drives a lot better than the older S's and has more room inside

I will never buy a ICE car as a daily commuter again, vastly inferior to drive

I would love a manual V10 R8 spyder for the weekends thou, most modern performance cars do nothing for me

Had a Tesla Model 3P for 2 years as a first foray into EV as an everyday car, and now have a Taycan Turbo. ICE everyday car before the Tesla was an A45. No way would I go back to ICE - EVs are just so much better in so many ways IMO. The Tesla made the A45 feel old fashioned, and not in a good way. Build quality of the Tesla a bit shoddy, but I was still mightily impressed with it. I should have tried an 'S' as well - are they really much better than a Model 3? The range advantage looks good.

Taycan just moves things into a different league, it's a superb car. In fact it's. so good that I don't have a petrol vehicle anymore - unless you count my ride on mower! The only major disadvantage of the Taycan is the sheer size of the thing! Range could do with being a bit more as I do quite a lot of miles and 240 just isn't quite enough to feel comfortable. That said, it is very pessimistic and I think it's probably closer to 260-280 on long motorway journeys. This is in contrast to the Tesla, which from my experience is very 'optimistic' i.e. lies - the estate agents of the EV car world! The M3 would claim just over 300, but my real word experience was around 220-240.

I don't see why you couldn't enjoy driving a good EV if you like driving in general. I agree that some ICE sports cars are still going to be more attractive as a toy if they have exotic, or even slightly interesting sounding engines. But plenty of them don't. Personally, I'm looking forward to and will be buying an EV Cayman when it arrives, assuming that it does at some point.

Taycan is due to go back to Porsche on Thursday for a software update, which is supposed to increase the range a touch, which if true will be very useful.
