I really like the car- the test drive was good.

It’s a comfortable ride, plenty of space inside (I’m 6’10) and even leg room behind me.

I agree the finish isn’t always Grade A- it isn’t a Range Rover etc- still when our work scheme opens it’s a very strong contender.

I also like the Polestar 3, which feels a size class smaller- but my concerns there are P3 isn’t yet shipping and the company seems a bit of a mess currently.

Still- in all it was above what I expected from a Kia
Looked at an EV9 today but didn’t get inside. I’ve got a new Defender 110 and thought it seemed marginally smaller possibly due to the height being lower to the ground. Nice looking car in GT Line spec and the blue as per above images. The wheels were 21 inch and looked massive.

Adam1980 6’10” ! You’re not a size 18 shoe by any chance as I have a free pair of brand new Adidas Superstars looking for a home.
Ha ha no- my feed are a very ‘normal’ size 14!

The Carwow review was great. As the Polestar outlook worsens by the day, I think this is likely my next car- should our work scheme ever open

I sat in an EV9 at the dealer launch. I was disappointed in the trim quality - it seemed similar to that in a friend’s Ioniq5 and a zillion miles from a Range Rover or my iX. The price is hugely cheaper of course but I am not sure it makes up for it - for me anyway

At least it will be reliable not something RR can offer.

Test drive booked for Saturday morning, with a view to putting a deposit down if the dealer can get anywhere near the lease monthlies. Frustratingly they couldn't confirm which version I'd be driving, so it could be a lottery. I want 4WD, which limits me to one of the GT-Line models, but I'd prefer to avoid 21" wheels and retain proper wingmirrors if possible.

Proper wing mirrors?

I drove a GT S and the wing mirrors were normal

Ah, Ok. Maybe I'm getting my US and EU specs mixed up - in one of those places the top spec replaces the mirrors with cameras. I've read too many articles in the last 24hrs.

Boring. I’ve never had any reliability issues with mine. How many have you had or did you just get it from the Daily fail.

Are you able to share lease costs?

(Also drove a GT Line S and it had normal mirrors).

How did you find wind noise and general seat comfort, especially the base length?

I thought the seats were great. Very comfortable. I tried the massage function briefly, not really my cup of tea.

It’s a large car- I found the one reverse park I did a tad awkward- but that’s just practice h think. I’ve driven a V90 before, which I guess would still be a fair bit shorter.

Wind noise was fine- the fastest I went in it was mid 70s. I was talking to the sales rep- so that might have masked some of it.

The suspension was good- you can certainly feel going over things. An option to have air suspension might have been a nice add

For lease costs, the Air is coming in around 850/mth and the GT a shade over 1000/mth.

The suspension point is the one that's worrying me most, to be honest. The EV9 has a hard act to follow, with the magic carpet ride on my Discovery, particularly on the rural roads near our house.

I suspect I'll likely be torn between:
- 4WD ability and performance of the GT
- Range and ride comfort (on the 19s) of the Air

If they could just sell me a GT on 19s (configurator doesn't offer it), that might help.

Not being an expert on EV, but surely a square vertical front end is not going to help with range?

Yes daily mail lol

"Range Rover named least reliable used car by Warrantywise

A company that deals with issues yes daily mail.

https://www.am-online.com/news/manufacturer/2022/0...

The Land Rover Range Rover Reliability Rating is 2.0 out of 5.0, which ranks it 15th out of 19 for luxury fullsize SUVs.

https://repairpal.com/reliability/land-rover/range...

In china.

It seems JLR cars remain below average for quality and reliability, according to independent surveys. Indeed, the ANE dispatch claimed that JLR had to recall 70% of all the cars it sold in China in 2017 for repairs.

https://www.autocar.co.uk/opinion/industry/why-jag...

List goes on, not a daily mail article in sight.

Kia have done some very smart things with the EV9 design, and it has a drag coefficient of 0.28, which is pretty good for something that size/shape. For context, the Model Y is 0.23.

Snap, saw one in red driving around yesterday, thought it looked brilliant, a proper cohesive design.

Would love one, but a bit too rich for me unless something spectacular happens with the company car pricing.
