OVO EV Tariff, how’s does it work?

Technically yes, but in reality I suspect not.
IO is 7.5p but that is for the entire house consumption during the off peak period, not just the EV. I'll admit, I haven't run the numbers, but those of us that time shift as much consumption as humanly possible to 23:30 > 05:30, I suspect the 0.5p / kW/h won't cost in. For those with a home battery, it's a no brainer for IO.
For our use case we do not use any appliances overnight so our electricity usage is mainly during the day this is why I did not go with Octopus as we would not have made much use of the cheaper overnight rates(well apart from the EV). OVO charge anytime tariff is ideal for us and now even better they have reduced the rate!IO is 7.5p but that is for the entire house consumption during the off peak period, not just the EV. Finally got my OVO Charge Anytime working; was supposed to be set up in June, but after not seeing any credit, a few e-mails and I have now got it all connected.
One thing that might be worth mentioning is I have a car that is not on the Charge Anytime compatible list (EV6), but I do have an Indra Smart Pro charger, so the tariff is connected to the Indra app which I've always used for charging, rather than the car.
Anyway I take pleasure in my fuel costs now being around 2p/mile!

Off the back of this very thread, i've just started the switch process from Scottish Power to OVO in order to make the most of the Charge Anytime EV tariff....but the switch 'offer' itself was pretty good in itself actually (4 months of 'free' Corgi Homecare boiler cover, £18 there after and £100 energy cashback).....and that's despite only moving sideways from a variable tariff to a variable tariff...?
I am with Octopus and have a Smart meter which doesn’t communicate with Octopus! There is no signal where I live to/from whichever network the Smart meter uses. I live in the NW near Clitheroe.
If the OVO tariff for EVs relies on communicating with the car, not with a Smart meter, presumably still I won’t be able to switch and get the benefit of the cheap rate because my MG4 Trophy 2022 app doesn't work at home - poor mobile signal, though my Iphone gets 1 bar and also works through fibre broadband.
Octopus just send out an engineer to change the meter - twice so far and then say there’s no signal (again)!
The government seems to be doing something about the Smart meter/no signal issue in the South but people in the North presumably don’t need working Smart meters.
Do any of you good folk have any ideas, please?

I use OVO without a smart meter.
I also have poor signal.
I often have peculiar things happen, usually the car charges until full straight away, through peak times and passing my maximum charge request.
On a positive note I always have charge.
I'd give it a go as I believe all the other EV tariffs must have a working smart meter.

I have OVO and Charge Anytime and also an MG4 Trophy. The MG is not a compatible car with OVO Charge Anytime. You would need either an Indra or OHME charging point. You then only use the charging points app to schedule your charging of the MG. The Indra or OHME CP a then liaises with OVO to inform them of energy used for the car.If the OVO tariff for EVs relies on communicating with the car, not with a Smart meter, presumably still I won’t be able to switch and get the benefit of the cheap rate because my MG4 Trophy 2022 app doesn't work at home - poor mobile signal, though my Iphone gets 1 bar and also works through fibre broadband.
