Thoroughly impressed with this...

Thoroughly enjoying the i3 and current range seems to be around 170-185 miles which is better than I was hoping for given the ambient temps just now.

I am now averaging 4.6 m/kWh over the last 2 weeks of general running around.
...as I am a bit closer to this... laugh

Actually hovering around 3.7 (in an S), and that's with some trying. I've managed 4.7 on one occasion but found it impossible to maintain once not stuck in slower moving queues, and without a preconditioned battery (I don't need to charge it everyday). Half my commute is quite hilly and NSL, which does drag the average down.

Excuses aside it works brilliantly and I'm already incredibly fond of mine. Wanted Lodge interior (is that Loft you have there? Lovely!) but hen's teeth I found. Also waiting for warmer times to shampoo the seats*... nerd

(*Mine was AU and the dealer valet missed an empty drinks can under the seat, which audibly made its presence known on the test drive once the seat was exposed to the shape of my arse. Steering wheel also covered in gunk...)

Yes, think its called loft!! Nearly bought an S, but preferred this to the grey interior. Having said that, it would have hidden their utter lack of care, cleaning & 'presentation'....

A pic of the new cotton cloth I used to clean the wheel, looks more like something I used to check the oil level if it had one.....

If memory serves of my time in an i3 - "Eco Pro" is seriously lethargic. I used to only use it when I was desperate for a charge. I think I was on "Eco" the rest of the time, although "Normal" does feel tangibly more responsive.

Off the back of this thread, I test drove one today....

What an epic little thing, I just need to find the spec I want now.

OP must be driving like Miss Daisy.

I've averaged 3.8 MkW over the year in I3S 120. I'm of advanced years, mostly use the car for taking old folks to appointments etc.

I did 130 round trip yesterday. Set cruise control at 63 on the way out and was on track for getting home with 20 miles to spare. That's OK.

However, I needed a pee on the way home and pulled into Motofrankley southbound on the M5. Surprised to see large bank of Gridserve chargers. So I plugged in for 15 min. 50 miles to go and 90 range, should get home with 40 left.

So, I got bored and drove the rest of the way home at 'RH lane normal traffic speed'. Got home with 12 miles left. If you let the I3 go, it uses lots of electrons!

What would you suggest the range would be if you drove it normally?

120-130 miles?

The one I test-drove yesterday indicated 110 miles at 87% charge.

This was also a i3s if that makes any difference.

The range indicator on the dash guesses the range based on (recent) driving history.

If I'm doing my usual driving, in and out of Banbury and Oxford, just going with the traffic, I'd expect to get about 140 at this time of year, up to 160 when it's properly summer.

Following yesterdays rampage down the M40, I've fully charged the car, and I expect it will only show about 120.

Morning chaps! Miss Daisy reporting back.....(smiley face etc)...

Glad you enjoyed the test drive, they just seem to be good bit of kit in a quirky well engineered sort of way.

Most of my usage is in eco pro, (not + that is lethargic) which for general Daisy duties works for me. Unlike the Mii, the heater etc still works fine in that mode but if you do give the pedal a proper press down it will still get off down the road just fine. I think they should have made that the default with the standard 'comfort' more of a semi-sporty mode.

The 3.8 reported seems to tally with my 4.1 coming down the dual set at 60mph on cruise with I suspect the difference being S and non-S if the stats are to be believed. Not been on the M'way with it yet just all around the 'burbs but I might get around to it eventually, its been 20 years since junction 9 on the m40 was my stomp down to London village, I seem to remember average speeds being quite brisk when quiet!

Haha great stuff. I'm sadly at the other end of the scale and have recently used Carly to default to sport mode when switched on. I only ever drive in sport mode and interestingly have averaged 3.9m/kWh over 79k miles

Unless you prefer eco mode, I've found there isn't a huge difference in summer. More so in winter due to the heater.

Owned ours three years now, seriously one of if not the, best cars we’ve ever owned when you take into consideration its use and how good it has been.

It will be a very sad day when it goes but it’s just so good I don’t see any reason for changing it (barring just fancying a change).

110 miles at 87% suggests (1/0.87)*110 = 126 miles full, which tallies with a recent usage of 126/42 = 3 mi/kWh. I think that's realistic if you drove one normally (by which I mean 'without thinking about how to optimise mileage' and 'not caning about'). It's about what mine was showing when I picked it up.

If you eked it up to ~3.9 mi/kWh it'd probably indicate closer to 3.9*42 = 164 miles range. Mine reckoned ~160 this morning.

All approximate (and on the optimistic side) of course, not all of the 42kWh is available, etc etc.

Just to make everyone feel better, I left it in comfort earlier and gave it a boot up the dual carriageway and some country road. Weather was/is pants so traction control was struggling a little but I managed to get it down to 4.5m/kWh.

Normal service shall be resumed tomorrow....!!

Good work! We've had our i3S for ~9 months and covered about 9,000 miles... Dash reports an average of 4.0m/kWh. Car looks smart.

I have been thinking about getting an i3 but I noticed some of the adverts say the car has 2.4kw charging.
So do some cars not allow you to charge from a 7kw wall box or a fast charger?

The one we are getting will take 11kW off a wall box and 50kW off a rapid.

All i3s have a type 2 connector (home wall box) - CCS was an option earlier on but I *think* became standard later on.

Mine is a '20 plate (42kw battery) and I use my 7kw wall charger all the time. If you watch some of the Wisely automotive YT vids, you will see Martin on the M'way getting almost 50kw charge rate when the car is between 20-80%. From memory, he was managing that much charge in around 20-25 mins or so.

The 2.4kW figure is probably referring to the 13A granny charger. They'll all take 7kW from a home charger and 50kW from a rapid (unless it's an early one without the DC option).
