They do look pretty excellent in the flesh, seen a few on test some months ago (red and silver ones) and the red looked gorgeous. it is pretty big though, im note sure how much of an MX5 rival it will be! !!
I just dont know how these will get on, if reliable to use as a proper daily, they may well sell quite a few in the scale of things. But will people buy them as a second or summer car, as is the case with similar Ice cars? I am not so sure.
But they do look great and if they become affordable in a few years, and prove reliable, i can see people fighting over what i suspect may be the few 2nd hand ones about.
I suspect, when under much more scrutiny than a few tame youtubers in China, the car will be seen as rather superficial, given the fairly minimal development that's gone on (no prototype testing outside of China). It will make some sales, from the crowd who just want a two seat drop top and don't really car how it drives, because its just for the National Trust visits. It might get a few sales from MX5s, by peope who don't really care how a MX5 drives, because they are more interested in the boot size.

Someone took one apart. Some of the quality of the weldong looks quite bad. The last photo is the interior of the door carcass, showing a lack of a side impact bar. I wonder how much is econobox MG4?

Bit of rust already

Front subframe

Its using the same front subframe as the Zhiji L7, which is the Alibaba car. Apparently, the chassis on the L7 was developed by Williams Advanced Engineering (WAE).

But not entirely the same

Cyberster

L7

The rear subframe is stamped steel on the Cyberster, so that's guaranteed to rust out, probably accelerated rotting given all the aluminium parts (galvanic corrosion).

The L7 uses a more expensive alumininium rear subframe, so possibly a sign of cost-cutting by MG

Note this wasn't some pre-production car, but some Chinese bloke who decided to take his new Cyberster apart.

Some kind of really odd testing in China. I think they are trying to show that this thing has such a heavy COG, its impossible to roll the blood thing, so you really don't have to worry about the inevitable, and optional Euro NCAP test.

Thai walkaround of a RHD Cyberster that is red, but doesn't have a red interior, but instead in monotone. The rear badging is different from others I have seen. While its in Thai, he does a good job going through the major controls

The subframe welding doesn’t look brilliant .
I haven’t seen many cars pictured like the ones you’ve shown so little to compare with - it all looks rather “busy” thou.
Just one thing - no such thing as a heavy c of g . - the measurement is distance . What it has is a low c of g and those sideways tests look quite impressive . Never seen those done on other cars - is this sort of testing normal ?

And what’s wrong with driving a nice car to a National Trust property ?

Would love to own that if I could transplant my m54b30 into it. Looks great.

I've seen similar tests before, for example this one of the Tesla Model X
