Seems the States continues with the BS strategy of 'fining' motorists so they can fund other strategies!! It is a stealth tax, nothing less.

I wish they would just be honest and transparent and put 1p on the basic rate of income tax!

Let the appropriate protesting continue.

P.S. My Boxster GTS is actually 1801 mm wide so anything wider is penalised...!!!

I notice that they are talking about discounted rates for newly registered 2nd hand cars, but no mention of what they are. Anyone know what the details are?

Thanks. Still a kick in the teeth for sheddists then, just with slightly more forgiving footwear.

Would be the fairest solution. Or 1p above 100k, 2p above 200k etc. Keep the 200k cap. I doubt anyone would leave the island under those terms.

No, but we have been protesting, which is pretty unique for here.

Happy New a Year to all our readers!

This campaign seems to be more about certain politicians "building a legacy" than any environmental issues. A case of too much "vehicle" rather than too many vehicles. As has been alluded to earlier, it is actually a wealth tax rather than an environmental charge.

In the second hand car discount, this will be a kick in the teeth for the motor trade again, as it will be even more cost effective to buy a VAT qualifying ex-demo from the UK than a new machine plus delivery charge, plus full rate registration charges?
