As wackojacko has said

We did foot test and test by car, both times it was bottles not allowe, this is for safety reasons brought about by a bottle fight by the GP fans!

Cans of beer are acceptable and thay are allowing in.

From what I am Lead to believe by an ACO marshall this rule only applies to inside of circuit.

This is all the up to date info I Have and this is straight from site here in Le Mans and not here say!

We'll be ok, I'm sure they won't bother searching our cars too hard. wink

Don't think Bleu Nord opens until today? I'm staying there so hope they aren't banned...

In a funny way I really hope there's some truth in this - and can't wait to be chilling out on the grass, trackside, at Tetre Rouge as the cars come screaming through at the start of the race. I'll have one eye on the track and the other on the French marshals to see which one has the courage, or stupidity, to ask the crowd to hand over their beers! I've never heard such a huge load of b*llocks...

I've just spoken to some mates who are already down there, some in Blue Nord and others in Maison Blanche. Apparently what the French are doing is placing big bins in the campsites where all alcohol must be voluntarily deposited (prior to drinking).

It's a bit like a gun/knife amnesty, only much more serious.

I assume you mean bottles, rather than "all alcohol"?

I'm confused too! We are in Bleu Nord so bottles should be ok, but to play it safe we'll just buy cans. We have planned a stop at a supermarket in Bernay, about 10miles south of Rouen. It should be quieter than Calais, and a lot quieter than Carrefour Le Mans hehe

am confused also....i thought this was only for infield camping and trackside where glass wasn't allowed...seems like we have gone full circle?

Blue Nord is outside the circuit so can't see why glass should be an issue there or why for that matter there should be any kind of amnisty on bottles in there???

Ah, theres a Carrefour there?! It was a supermarket called E. Leclerc I found, on the main road through the town. I'll save the co-ords into the sat nav just in case. Cheers!

Were in Houx, no searching of cars at all that we've experienced, however we did ask what the situation was and they said no bottles. Saying that we drove in again later and no checks at all.

We played safe for tonight though and literally emptied the local carrefour express of a canned kroni. I reckon we could have got away with bottles but didn't want to take the risk.

Currently trying to work out what we can make with empty 330ml cans and silicone.......

So, we've lasted until Friday morning. We're going.

We're entering the circuit tomorrow morning and leaving the circuit after the race has finished.

My question - am I correct that there's no glass bottles in the circuit, so we should be buying lots of crates of cans now?

Thanks!
