This was my first trip to LM..

I couldn't believe how much of a difference there was in the performance of each groups cars.

I was staggered to see how much quicker the LMP & LMP1 cars were compared to the GTS & GT's. Now we think that GT3's and T400R's are quick but compared to the R8's and Judds they look as if they were going backwards.

How much quicker are F1 or Indy Champ cars..?

I believe that F1s would do slower lap times around Le Mans due to the higher top end needed on the Mulsanne straight.

Whether the mulsanne kinks would now make this untrue I dont know.

Of course the gear ratios on the F1 could be changed but if they were left as per the fastest GP circuit it would be a good comparison.

The #8 Audi R8 that crashed looked like an F1 when it was driving to the pits.

In his pre-race briefing in the MRI marquee (yeah, I know, but it was my first time) Perry McCarthy was specifically asked that question, and reckoned the F1 car would annihalate one of the LMPs. Lower weight hence higher power to weight ratio, downforce etc.

He reckoned the F1 cars he'd been testing did 0-140-40mph in 6 seconds
Also reckoned they were pulling 5g on cornering and on the brakes.

Suspect there might be a longevitiy issue though!
