personally I rate Houx far higher than MB. And I dont think its harder to sleep!! never had any problem in either site - last year at MB Psychobert found me face down at 4am with the race going on about 30 yards away with a bottle of beer still in my right hand and a fag in the left. I had my legs in the tent and the top half of me outside the tent. The bastard left me there too.

Houx had far better facilities, I prefer the set pitches, the "proper" campsite setup - the bar and food counter, the ability to walk to the grandstand without the crush where the stalls are set up. Etc etc.

Horses for courses but its a no brainer in my eyes.

One thing I will add is that me and Psychobert arrived late last year and asked politely to pitch a small tent on the Devon & Cornwall area (thanks Nacnud ) - they were most accomodating and made us feel welcome. Had a great late sunday night (again, thanks Nacnud ) and really enjoyed their company.

I did check to make sure that your fag had gone out though.. Didn't want it setting fire to anything.. I reckon that was about an hour after your famous 'Thats my baby and thats my beer' speech..

I'll second that.. If you are going to be a bit later than everyone else, Houx has marked pitches so its possible to park up and pitch a tent with relative ease. MB was a bit of a bun fight.. The facilities are better at Houx too and I think its better for getting around the track. And not so far to the places that serve cold beer..

This was our first year at Le Mans and we had a fantastic time! I was concerned about two things before going - getting everything in the car and toilet / shower facilities. We stayed in Houx Annexe and the toilets and showers were really clean - I was pretty impressed! And as for getting everything in the car, I needn't have worried - infact no-one could believe the amount of 'stuff' we had in the boot of the Chim'.

I would thoroughly recommend Houx Annexe as it has such a great atmosphere, and good facilities. We had decided too late to go to Le Mans to book up with any of the TVR Car clubs, and saw an advert for spare tickets on this forum. We travelled up with and camped with Charles Crawley & crew who thoroughly looked after us and ensured we had such a great time. So to any-one who's thinking about going for the first time next year - do it! and we'll see you there!!

They are all right you know. Houx is by far the better camp site.

Absolutely Dusty, Houx is much better than MB, I suggest everyone books into Houx

Although it really is a bit of a downer putting the wall up by the road - I used to enjoy watching the burnouts from the comfort of my gazebo

not that I will mind, we left at the crack on Thursday this year and just managed to squeeze the 5 cars and 12 guys in when we arrived at 15:00 Thursday afternoon, next year we will be leaving on the wednesday - or sending a runner ahead with the marking tape

If you cant turn up to MB by Friday morning then dont bother.
Cant belive how busy it was this year. They definitly over crowded it. Think its best to change to Houx

I guess it doesn't help by having a camping permit per vehicle. Out of the 5 cars we had, 3 cars had 2 people and 2 cars had 3 people. I guess there could have been many cars with a single camping permit with 3/4 people / tents ? Could be tricky for the ACPO to know just how many people are turning up.

Also got to say that I didn't think anyone was taking the p!ss with the amount of space used / roped off.

Bleu *maybe* a consideration next year, but the warning from the Lotus/Caterham boys when we went over for the footie, about the pikies already having gone through some tents does not sit well.

It's all well and good to suggest that we all camp in Houx but we were told by the car club that allocations for Houx are pretty much done and dusted. The regions that have camped there before seem to have first refusal so hence our decision to camp in MB.

I have to be honest and say that the comments that I have received from the Surrey lot have been nothing but good. We'll be back at MB next year as it suited us fine. We arrived on Tuesday and couldn't believe how busy it was. Last year we were only two cars, this year fourteen. Can't wait to do it all again!.
