Hi All,

Is anyone going this year or has been previously, and cares to empart some pearls of wisdom?

We were a bit disappointed with the Legends this year (appeared to be cira 1976 - 1990) and assumed they are saving the good stuff (ie the GT40's, Cobras etc etc) for the Classic Le Mans at the end of July.

So any recommendations (other than www.lemansclassic.com/2004) for tickets, camping and grandstand seats would be gladly recieved.

Cheers

Steve

Fatsteve,
I hope you are not too late for hotels etc, but try Continental Car Tours (www.continentalcartours.co.uk) who may be able to help.

The racing in 2002 was great and I will be there to sample it again this year. The hotel we are staying in I know is fully booked but you may get lucky with some last minute stuff.

All I would say is the racing was great, The Lola's and GT40's in the 70's race were great, the 60's cars included D Types and the like, 50's the C Types and the late 40 included the Aston DBR1's (I think). Get out to Arnage at night to see some fantastic racing.

Good luck, any questions just go for it. The in field by the way was awesome, everything from Tivers, Porsches to real old and valueable exotica/clasics.

Cheers,
Mark B

Blimey dissappointed by the Legends race.

I'll be at Classic LM in a few weeks time but I doubt I'll see anything as evocative. These cars represented the renaissance of sportscar racing and for a lot of phers including myself were the catalyst for starting our pilgrimmage to LM.

The historics like the Bentleys, D-Types, GT40's etc are fantastic to see and in most part are driven hard but they represent a different era that we can only read about or see in video's.

Cheers Guys,

Bodo, I should have phrased "disappointed" better. I was dissapointed NOT to see the Cobra's, GT40's etc. The Silk Cut Jags and alike were awesome. I missed the Legends last year and hence I was hell bent on seeing it this year.

I assume camping will be in the usual place.

I think the only campsite open is Maison Blanche..... Bobo W and I are staying in Saint Saturnin in a hotel just outside LM.

chaps

looking at the website, it appears that the race is on the bugatti (ie. permanent circuit) this year

do you think that's right? if it is, I am much less inclined to go

cheers now

It is on the full circuit and from Friday night onwards.

The Bugatti is highlighted on the web only to show where everything is, ie the classic car displays, shops, authorities etc. The Bugatti circuit will be full of classic cars and car club stands.

Don't be put off, just go for it!

Ah, sorry Mr Toad, I didn't realise there was more than one of you!!

Still, hopefully see you down there at the Classic. We'll be camping on Maison Blanche, about 10 of us from Club Arnage.

I'm going

No idea where I'm staying yet, someone else is organising us. I'm a passenger in a red TR6, incompany with a blue wedge TVR, a 60's Elan and a couple of Elises.

This is my first Le Mans classic....can't wait

Almost makes up for having to miss the real one due to work

Won't be able to make it to the Classic this year.

I have a couple of residents car passes that allow you to drive on the public roads inside the circuit (under the Virage du Pont etc. & out towards Hunandieres) that are valid for the weekend if anyone wants them.

We were given them for Speed Chills use in Apr & june and got cheerily waved through by the gendarmes every time.

Drop me an email - first come first served...
