Build an LMP2 car to 475kg instead of 900kg, and see how much faster it would be than that atrocity.
First off they tried that if you remember - LMP475. The only thing they were quick at was retiring from the race!

Also the DeltaWing runs a 1.6 turbo engine - do you think an LMP475 would be much faster if it also halved the size of it's turbo engine...?

The narrow track and tyres at the front, for example, will probably mean that its wet weather grip is likely to be charitably described as "terrifying"...
Why? It corners perfectly well in the dry, why should rain affect it worse than other cars?

If you listen to the Radio Le Mans podcast, there is a fantastic interview with Nissan's Euro Motorsport boss... He practically begged for rain. Must be because the car he's paid for would have spin out and explode...

The DeltaWing is fine in the wet - vehicle dynamics, however unusual their application, don't suddenly stop applying when the heavens open! It did 2 days running in the pouring rain at Snetterton and was still setting decent times. Several of the project heads mentioned that they'd had invitations from promoters of other races so hopefully it will turn up again soon, maybe at Petit Le Mans.

I've been following the DW for a while now and would love to see it race in ALMS or Le Mans (again). It's a breath of fresh air for car design and what's possible when a designer thinks outside the current and IMHO, constricting set of rules.

It was LMP 675 - that became LMP2

Shame about the cab, this was our one we took in 2010 but it got rear ended on the way back outside Rouen.
