Nicely restricted to buggery because the rules say max 5.5-litres.
Edited for accuracy.

Seem to be concentrating on GT3 series, especially the FiA GT Sprint, with a certain French WRC pilot driving one.

However, it will be great to see a Factory Porsche team at Le Mans, with Olaf Manthey's team running the new 991 RSR.

Are there really only 8 cars entered into LMP1?

Yup and only 6 of those are full time WEC entries. To be fair, no one is going to build a car for 2013 with the new rules coming in 2014. Someone still needs to fill that void that Lola left really.

2014 should be mega with the factory Porsche LMP1s and hopefully some C7Rs smile

Where are the Lizards ?
Unfortunately, Porsche and Flying Lizards ended their partnership at the end of 2012.

No one cares about the Beetle as it will look just like all of the other ones from the last 40 years.

Oh, I see what you've done there... tried to make a funny about Porsches looking like Beetles. Let me reply my American cousin.... with something equally informed and cliched... like who would be interested in pieces of pathetic American tat that can't go around corners and are made of pig iron and tin
As much as I love Porsches, an 8 litre v10 viper will sound awesome thumbup

..but I suspect the corvettes et al will also give them a run for their money given last years results. Much prefer the sound and action in this lm gte section - the lm p1 seems too hybrid for me.

The Audi seems to sound a little less 'Hybrid':

My friend ran the Lotus team and they were very proud to get one car through and the other only retired with a freak problem. so this picture is not entirely fair (although they did blow an engine. Lots of problems with lack of development from Lotus - even though had promised to do so...

5.5 liter in case of the Viper

Given the GTE Class is "supposed" to have a 5.5L upper displacement limit and the viper is running an 8.0L motor under waiver from the ACO to equalize the performance with the other competitors the engine is literally breathing through a couple of drinking straws hence the 450BHP.

At Mid Ohio when it first ran the car was about 2 seconds off the GT Class pace but by Road Atlanta at the end of the season it was much more competitive. I suspect Ferrari / Corvette will be the cars to beat in GTE-PRO at Le Mans in 2013 but the Viper may well be suited to the longer straights if they can trim it to be so and sacrifice the cornering ability. Of course they may go the other way if it results in a faster overall lap time.

Sorry, i should have made it clear that the Viper is of course still being developed!

Hopefully it will be right on the pace by LeMans and once again the GT's will steal the show from the prototypes!

Should be good to see, I read the racecar article quite closely thinking "could be good at LM!"

Interested to hear it with the downsized engine too... should bring the unique noise back that has been missing since Corvette left...

Rooting for Corvette Racing as always! That said, it's nice to see more variety in the GT classes.

5.5 liter in case of the Viper
Are you sure? http://www.drivesrt.com/racing/viper-gts-r/ .... From this ....

DESIGNED FOR ALMS AND LE MANS
On the engine side, SRT Chief Powertrain Engineer Richard Winkles will oversee the program with Roush Industries of Livonia, Michigan, SRT’s strategic partner. Le Mans and ALMS rules limit engine size to 5.5 liters, but SRT was not about to replace the vaunted Viper 8.4L V-10 with a smaller V8. The team approached rule makers and received permission to run an 8-liter version of the big overhead valve engine. To compensate for the size advantage, the engine is throttled back by means of an intake restrictor, just as GTS-R was in its previous life. The restrictor takes a big chunk out of Viper’s power curve, and it won’t let the engine run as fast. Nevertheless, Team Viper is confident that the car will be quite competitive.

VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS:
Engine: 8.0L V10
HP: 455 HP (Restricted by Series)

The waiver is for the 8 litre V10, which is why Corvette are none too pleased.
