And rightly so. Why do they have to ride along with a tiny 5,5 liter engine instead of the 7 litre beast?

Well because Corvette had to, is their arguement!

With 'they' I meant Corvette. They are rightly unhappy. They had a 7 litre unit and are now forced to use some coffeegrinder engine instead.
Although I like the prospect of Vipers blasting along, I do think that rules must be equal for all. If you don't have an engine that is eligible, please stay home.

Yes. Introduce the 'box rule' and a minimum weigth. The car has to fit in a car shaped box (shape to be determined by the ACO) and has a certain weight.
All else is free for the car designer smile

Yes. Let's bring it back please!

Edit: forgot to add a third and final rule. A allocated amount of energy for 24hrs. Your choice in what form to use it: petrol, diesel, coal, whatever.
You can use KERS, solar sells, win some radiated heat from the track whatever you want to re-win some of the used energy of course.

So sadly, none of the big Can Am engines will make it back, but it would still be fun!

If they ever did my mind would explode by the sheer awesomeness of the cars that would result.

Edit: McLaren F1 GTR vs Can-Am rockets

sadly about 6 cars would result at utterly ridiculous cost and then the whole thing would implode because no budgets would be available for it. A bit like what has happened to P1 at Le Mans really. Until people realise how to make money from racing properly (full gates at circuits with some of that revenue feeding back to the teams to reward them for participating) would be a start. Far too much motor racing takes place in front of empty grandstands these days, shocking.

I like that idea.

Unfortunately, with a box and minimum wieght rule, as has been said above, costs would spiral and the whole shooting match would probably die.

Should be good to see, I read the racecar article quite closely thinking "could be good at LM!"

Interested to hear it with the downsized engine too... should bring the unique noise back that has been missing since Corvette left...
??

Where did Corvette go? They've not left. Vettes are V8's, ,Vipers are v10's

Unfortunately, thanks to the Le Mans date change, I can now no longer go to Le Mans so will have to watch on TV and miss out on all the fun. Not happy

Thanks to the lower noise reg a couple of year's ago , the days of feeling he Vettes thunder through your feet as it passes by are a thing of the past.

No one cares about the Beetle as it will look just like all of the other ones from the last 40 years.

Oh, I see what you've done there... tried to make a funny about Porsches looking like Beetles. Let me reply my American cousin.... with something equally informed and cliched... like who would be interested in pieces of pathetic American tat that can't go around corners and are made of pig iron and tin
VHR - He's as American as you are wink

All this gassing about Vipers and 458s and Astons. Aston Martin will be there to make numbers up and the Vipers are just going to be waving the flag for the Americans. It'll be all about the 911s and 458s. Throw into the mix the Factory run RSRs and it should be in the bag for Porsche.......again! laugh

Really???? That's odd, I've been going since 2003 and GT1/pro, its always been Corvette. First Vette vs Pro drive Ferrari then Corvette vs Aston Martin, then Corvette vs AM and Ferrari.

Can't honestly remember it being all about 911 vs 458's. Have you ever gone to Le Mans? If the answer is yes perhaps try watching some of the race this time around. Lol

If it was always about Porches I'd never go. Can't think of anything more boring

Have to agree, Corvette know how to do Le Mans and are always one of the leading contenders. The 458’s will be very quick and I can’t see Aston Martin just making up the numbers, they ran strongly last year and the car has the benefit of another year’s development. The Porsche’s will be competitive but maybe not quite on the pace of the other three. Good to have the Vipers there but if anything they are the ones who will be making up the numbers.
