A small group of us have been to the last two Le Mans and having had such a great time have pencilled this in as a regular annual event. When I say pencilled, for most of us have used an indelible marker, but not all of us. I refer of course to the weak link in the chain, the one who doesn't want to go any more because with the revised dates clash with his wife's birthday on Sunday the 19th.

I mean blimey, various workarounds spring to mind, an extra special present, a weekend in Paris, I mean be resourceful and think of something, but is not going an option you'd consider?

I appreciate that there are going to be situations that arise that could put a spanner in the works, like having arranged to get married that weekend and already sent out the invitations, won a trip to the moon on the next space shuttle, ill health of a dependent etc...

Please feel free to post any criticisms of the offending 90s man here.

-------------

On a separate matter, we've stayed in Le Houx previously and really found a fridge a big help for keeping the beers cold. Trouble is we found it a bit quiet and fancy trying out another campsite next year. Do Bleu/Houx Annexe/Maison Blanche etc. have power points and bogs/showers? I've walked around all of them before in a drunken haze and noticed nothing.

Problem 1: "Now then Dear, for your Birthday Treat I've booked us a nice week in France."

Problem 2: The only power in the other sites is from tapping into the street lights. Plenty of bogs and showers these days though.

Tell me about it!
We got married on the 20th June last year!
This year I'm leaving Le Mans on the Sunday evening to spend some QT with the missus in my mates petit maison about an hour or two up the road.
Apart from the HUGE row we had (or should I say she had with me) it could have worked out a lot worse!

Why not take your wife to Le Mans with you. I went this year for the first time and really enjoyed it.

Then a couple of days in a nice Chateau after - sorted.

Personally I'd always do LM over the wife's birthday. Its not like she's only had 18 of them or anything so a few days here or there can't matter that much.

Mind you, a weekend in Paris would probably help. As long as it wasnt just by accident because you'd set the SatNav for LM and followed it all the way to the Eiffel Tower

It's definately not my other half's cup of tea, unless the airbed(well I am nearly 30!)is replaced with a hotel and that's not what Le Mans is all about for me and the chaps, it's our one and only annual boys trip and we have to assume caveman mode to get the best out of the weekend.

Plus, on the drive there and back I'd just get abuse for constantly rolling down the window and cackling like an idiot every time something nice went past and having to play Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' on the wireless at every toll booth!

This year all the girls have decided to get together and do girly stuff whilst we're away anyway. If I thought she'd enjoy it, I'd suggest it, but I don't think she would, so I won't.

Whether your so-called mates want to make an effort is neither here nor there. Booked the ferry up today and joined the ACO last night. Now all I need is some tickets! roll on June...

Have been having the same trouble as the girl friends birthday is on the 12 June. Last year I went anyway (wasn't a happy bunny), this year I just couldn't afford to go so no arguements (except when I kept dissappearing from the party she was having to check on results!). You can imagine how happy I was when I heard the dates had been changed for next year. It makes it all so much less painfull (on the wallet especially as I don't have to make up for being away) Life is suddenly good!
