Fancy something a bit more British and cheaper?

Now I bet that's got you thinking!
At £20k, I'm questioning why I need a daily. I mean, regardless of weather, an hour a day in traffic in a major city and a 70ml commute, I'd be able to use that every day, right? Right?Fancy something a bit more British and cheaper?

Watched "Truth in 24" on Youtube on Sunday night.... NOW IM EXCITED.
Saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and got the fever then. Also try the Steve McQueen film Le Mans, it is old school compared to today's event but that doesn't matter, it is great.Last night my team mates met up and we had a video call together, making some plans and figuring out who needs to bring what, where to meet and so on.
It will be my 10th time this year but the excitement never gets old or lessens
Leo, for some strange reason I had seen "Truth in 24 ii" before, but not the original....
I love it when TK argues with his race engineer, H - "the track is dry - only where you are is it wet" then he gets intermediates thrown on, and comes out the pits having seen the Peugeot keep slicks on "wha ttyre has the Peugeot got on?" only for it to bloody piss down, and dominate on his newly acquired intermediates!!
I dont get bored of watching the in-car footage, especially at night time. Their field of vision down mulsanne/indianapolis to porsche is RIDICULOUS. They see about 50 feet ahead of them, and the white lines left and right.
Anyone going on special ops this year? I've a feeling we will be again, its so bloody good! Catch you all there!!!!!!
Matt

Off out for a 'planning' beer & curry tonight with my accomplices. ..hopefully more productive than last time (especially given we leave home 3 weeks tomorrow!).
Also had a mild panic about 'pimping' my car Le Mans style with stickers/livery although hopefully will be resolved before the weekend so I can start hiding in the garage in the evenings more to the amusement of Mrs C The main sticker suppliers seem very busy this year & one well known company had closed their order book for bespoke orders with 4 weeks to go....I hope that's a sign of a good variety of cars suitably adorned for Mr Webbers first appearance

Other than my tickets arriving a few weeks ago (Thanks TL) I haven't really found myself thinking and getting excited about Le Mans , well until today that is, I was sat in a particularly boring meeting and my mind started to wander...
I started thinking about getting all of the required bits and bobs out, dusting them off along with sourcing any new additions that we have thought of over the past year. I desperately need to get my tent out and up in the garden to make sure that it is still a tent of course and hasn't transformed into something else over winter, this is entirely possible as it hasn't seen the light of day since Monday 24th June 2013...
Then my final thought was stickers. We still haven't decided what car we are taking this year which hasn't helped, but I'm struggling to find any inspiring stickers this year and from talking to a few other regulars it appears that I'm not alone on this. I think I will go to Stickers4 (the service and quality is always excellent) and purchase one of the large circuit outlines and a couple of the official roundels. Has anybody else found this? It just seems strange bearing in mind what a monster event this year is going to be!
Not long now chaps!

That's the first I've ever heard about a sequel, I will check that out for sure. Anything to boost the excitement! This morning I had a live feed of Radio Le Mans on headphones at work. It was a re-run of the Imola race which I think was a few days ago. Just hearing the cars in the background, the theme music (The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary) the commentating team (especially John Hindhough) just brings everything back, every year. The whole LM thing is just so evocative, so many good memories, feelings of awe, amazement, tiredness, deaf ears, meeting new people, making new friends... the list goes on and on.I love it when TK argues with his race engineer, H - "the track is dry - only where you are is it wet" then he gets intermediates thrown on, and comes out the pits having seen the Peugeot keep slicks on "wha ttyre has the Peugeot got on?" only for it to bloody piss down, and dominate on his newly acquired intermediates!!

To anyone for whom 2014 will be their first time, you are in for a treat. It is am amazing event.
Here is Truth in 24 II
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27F26UA1i6M
I'd suggest watching the first one, err, first but it isn't essential. Part 2 deals with the 2011 race which was very very eventful for Audi. I had forgotten about their night-time crash but not the daytime one involving McNich and a Ferrari. That crash sticks very very firmly in my mind because we were sitting (and I was sleeping, before he hit the barrier) right where it happened.

Are we the only ones getting the 5.15 ferry from Dover - Calais?
Why did I think that was a good idea when I booked ha ha
Ive done stupid early before now Why did I think that was a good idea when I booked ha ha
Living in the south east we had loaded up the old Cobra and headed off waking all the neibhours
Got down to the local M25 Jcton and found more stickered up cars heading in the same direction, bloody great
We left home at 2am to go to Spa for WEC this year, We arrived at the circuit at 10am. Not bad, given that normally we don't get up until 10 at Le Mans anyway.
We have booked the ferry out from Portsmouth at 0815 on the 30th so we have to leave home about 5ish, not too bad but yeah we go next week!

...for Mr Webbers first appearance...in a Porsche
Fixed that for you Granted it was 15 years ago that he last raced at Le Mans, but it still counts
He didn't start in 1999 on account of a clash with a flying lesson he had.
In 1998 the Mercedes only made it to lap 19....so did he actually get behind the wheel in the race?
