Nismo GT-R LMP1
Discussion
The speed trap is before the braking point for the first chicane, so there is a long run down from Tertre Rouge to get up to speed.

How they got to that topspeed is a complete enigma to me because their accelleration was pretty abysmal. They needed the complete pitstraight to overtake a Ferrari 458 after the Ford chicane....
Must be the lack of hyrbrid?Testing now seeing constant improvement. Still no ERS nipping at the heels of LMP1 times set at COTA last weekend. I think 2016 will be a good year for Nissan at Le Mans.

To be clear, LMP1-L times, not the factory hybrids, so at the moment it's snapping at the heels of the Rebellions and the ByKolles car, as you'd expect.
Will be interesting to see what/how much of an improvement they get when the hybrid is installed and also if it introduces any more unforeseen issues elsewhere.

To be fair, with 30% less fuel than the rebellions, that's not bad going. Remember that Oreca isn't a bad chassis - totally dominating P2 with essentially the same design..
Although there is no telling the fuel level of the GTR, of course, it being testing. Quite agree, the Oreca isn't a bad package and will be better next season once they are really familiar with the engine, but they should be on totally different planes.[Off topic] The ByKolles CLM has now beaten the Rebellions in the past two races, now that is news worthy considering where that car was at Silverstone, but of course, they're not trendy enough for the media unfortunately, only as something to mock. LMP1-L is finally becoming a competitive battleground, even more so when Strakka join in.

Yeah great results for ByKolles. They don't seem to be a favourite of RLM so don't seem to get the coverage that Rebellion do sadly. Don't wan't to get slammed here, as I would love to see Nissan do really well at LM, but why, considering the size of their enterprise, and know-how, are they having so much hassle getting the LMP-1 technology to work. Their budget must be up there with AUDI/PORSCHE/TOYOTA, and way ahead of the other tiny teams. It can't be secret, what the others re doing, can it, and their engineers must be as good, if not better.

I don't think their budget is anywhere near Audi and Porsche, possibly closer to Toyota. They lost all their excuses though, when they came wading in telling everyone how quick they were going to be.

Probably because it is just so different. Budgets are not massive for everyone, certainly Toyota is reportedly way way behind the other two LMP1 teams hence the lack of a third car. It isn't just about size of budget, there is an awful lot of knowledge that say Audi have stored away purely due to the amount of experience they have. Money can buy that, but it comes with time and a concerted multi-year commitment to spending that money each time. The component parts each work, that is known, it's just that they do not seem to work as a cohesive package as yet when all joined together, for whatever reason, be that intrinsic design issues or just lack of time/testing. Nissan's main problem isn't the car, it's the PR BS surrounding it. The lack of racing in the early rounds has a valid excuse, to compete at Silverstone and Spa they would have needed to homologate the chassis and combining that with the upgrades required after the curtailed Sebring test, there just wasn't time. To miss the later races is harder for Nissan to honestly explain, for me, although it will come down to an unwillingness to homologate the car and thus lock in the design. If they do that now, next year is a write off.
Not a massive surprise, Silverstone 2016 it is!
