Le Mans PH Friday Service
Discussion
PH crew - any chance the PH Friday service can revert to being standalone rather than part of the Classic British Welcome please?
My LM group usually do both and will aim to do so if they are separate, the CBW though is becoming impossible with traffic into and out of St-Saturnin.
It would be great to see a standalone PHFS somewhere near the track - lunchtime to mid avo so we can all get into town for the drivers parade/beers in time
The 2014 field was great...

When I happened to mention the PHFS at the Bruntingthorpe SS, there was a whisper that they might be up to something a little different this year although they weren't prepared to say what until they'd got things confirmed, but it was mentioned it would be "different". It's probably almost time for them anyway to tell us what they've got planned given we've only 11 weeks until the party race weekend and we are an impatient group given we only have this once a year (corrected for legal/ security reasons )
Edited...just spotted the LMFS won't be announced until 1 June....talk about making us wait

Maybe I shouldn't tell everyone but taking a right turn at the top of the village when exiting (opposite the ordinary car field car park) and heading off towards the next village instead of turning left down the hill towards the train crossing and hotel / industrial estate will get you out in no time
If enough people do it then it should keep things moving.
Also when it p's it down don't all leave at once

This. There are loads of little roads to play on to the west of Le Mans. Mostly full of diddly squat but watch out for the excited locals giving you flashes and thumbs up with both hands off the wheel!DeanR32 said:
My cars going to the CBW (if I get it finished in time!), but my pal can hopefully bring his modern classic and put it in the PH side of things, so ithis works for us.
Never been to either, so getting my car in the CBW is pretty exciting!
is there a list or anything i can add my name on for the friday service?Never been to either, so getting my car in the CBW is pretty exciting!
This will be the first time I shall not be going to the CBW purely because of the traffic. And I was refused entry to the PHFS because I didn't have a pass. Probably right to do so, but in the XKSS it was galling. I know it is a great show there, having been involved on and off for 10 years, but it's the other side of town and there is Mulsanne just around the corner for me.
That is the major problem - location. It's become a victim of its own success - the site can hold a decent amount of cars and petrolheads, but access is awful! Went too late a few years ago and it was awful traffic, both in and out. So tried again last year and got there early doors. Still queues! I left the van at the side of the road in St.Saturnin (before you turn off to go under the bridge to the venue) and walked from there. Easy. Small stroll to work off the merguez and no industrial estate detour. Well worth going to but you need an escape plan!
You can't blame PH for the fact. It was just one of the volunteers who couldn't tell a Jaguar from a jackass, and rules is rules I guess. Pity though, since I started the whole PH meeting in the first place! Never mind, it's like the Revival. I was a member of the club that got that started, and again it has grown too big for me now, and especially too many people on a jolly who know nothing about cars, which at least there isn't at the CBW.
I really can't answer your question nowadays. I helped the town hall get that one running on the basis that it would be afternoons only and not clash or compete with the CBW. They agreed, but dropped me after two years and it now runs all day. I dislike the display of plastic Excaliburs anyway! Yes, I find it pretty downbeat and haven't been to the Arnage one on the Thursday either. They did ask to put the XKSS on display but I had to turn up at 7am and stay until 8pm before taking it home. I'd have been under the table at noon!
The theme for the Mulsanne event is this year Ford, apparently to honour the return of Ford in the GT class. No other details are on their site I'm afraid:-

Might have a little something to do with the 50th anniversary of the orignal Ford GT40 getting 1/2/3 in the 1966 LM24 too...http://www.viragedemulsanne.org/viragedemulsanne/i...
