Good recovery!

I am en route from UK to Spain via Rouen, Le Mans, Bordeaux today, currently in la Vespiere for an overnight stop.

No issues at all, one or two stations in Rouen seemed short of petrol but back on the autoroutes all was normal.

Worst part was unnecessarily topping up the van with diesel at £1.27 in the UK due to the scare stories. Grr.

French guy here living near Rouen, the queues at gas stations are now normal at some places and there are no more empty stations, but the prices increased, SP95 from 1.30 euros to 1.40 + or E85 from 0.59 euros to 0.89...

Bumped into a friend in town yesterday who told me that he had phoned the supermarket to get permission to fill a couple of cans so he could get his classic back from the garage. They said it was currently illegal but if he waited until after 7 pm no staff would be there to stop him!

On a serious note this could just be a lull in the storm since the discontent over the new law hasn't gone away. Prices have risen sharply though for no reason. Profiteering. Next big strike still planned to the 14th.

Travelled from the UK via the Tunnel down to the coast near Bordeaux on Friday/Saturday.

Took the precaution of popping 20l of diesel in the boot and didnt need to touch a drop. 564 miles from Calais having brimmed the tank at the UK services just before the tunnel - this was the only queuing we had to do (about 10 mins) as everyone else was taking the same precaution.

Topped up at about 100 miles and 350 miles when taking pitstops for the kids and there was no problem at all - all the main autoroute services had fuel.

Having been in the Bordeaux region for a couple of days havnt noticed any problems with petrol stations out of fuel.

Shame the weather's a bit pants atm though.

I've got problems in my JCW Cooper S. Even a Eco run will only give me 300 to a tank.
And with the limited boot space it's going to be a choice of tent or spare fuel.

Was looking forward to the trip, but now having to do the trip solo and the fuel problems, I'm very tempted to cancel the trip
Why am I not surprised you are doing he trip SOLO ?

The next strike is on June 14th.
Only the French would think of having a strike on a national holiday. Yep, it's Bastille day.

Yesterday, I filled two 20 litre containers with diesel and another with petrol. No problems at all.

I'm sure that those of us in France at the moment will keep you all updated.

It always used to be July 14th. Have they moved it this year due to the strikes :-)

Rich, not sure when you return from France but I will be interested to hear how you managed regarding the petrol shortages. We are going to the Hotel de France with a group of Lotus cars next Sunday so hopefully by then the situation will be back to normal (or maybe not!).

Oi! Are you calling me a caravanner!

We were going to a holiday camp (static caravans) but not towing. Was due to go in the Evoque. Realistically, range loaded up and with roof box wouldn't be much over 300 miles before panic sets in - we have about 450 miles to do from Eurotunnel terminal at Coquelles. I've bought a 20l jerry can, but in reality that could be a one time use - a lot of garages are not allowing jerry cans to be filled, as this encourages even more hoarding of fuel.

As Eurotunnel and Siblu are being very reasonable in their approach ro re-booking, we'll try again in the summer hols. In the meantime we've booked a few nights away in Dorset next week. I shall be burning my beret in a quiet protest...

I hope anyone that does decide to go has a good time ;-)
Apologies. Lol

I decided to come. Got from calais to Le Havre before any sign of fuel shortage

No problems filling up on the toll roads and no problem once past Le Havre.

Had a long weekend in Normandy then drove to britanny. Plenty of fuel on route.

Hope this information helps

By normal, do you mean fuel readily available with no queues? Like it is now? Honestly, there are no problems I have seen anywhere - in Normandy at least, which apparently was the worst hit area.

Returned this morning, there were no problem for any of the 15 cars in our group. I filled 3 x times with no trouble. Yes, there was one superU that had no petrol only diesel. At another you could only get 20 litres but by using a different card you could get another 20 and yesterday in Le-Chartre the SuperU had no restrictions so all good.

We were competing at the St.Goueno hillclimb at the weekend, as it happens on the same outward crossing from Portsmouth as the Astons, however a number of the entrants leaving from other ports told of their cars being searched prior to departure and petrol cans confiscated. The way round this was to offer up sacrificial small cans leaving the larger cans hidden under all the tools. Suffice to say there was a fair trade going on in the paddock for a few litres of 98 ;-)

It's odd isn't it because at Portsmouth several of the vintage Bentleys and Lagondas were searched and they made no comment about the fuel cans just looking for drugs, explosives and weapons.

Good news as it might fault further strikes 👍
