Taking the CGT to Le Mans - feels like it's coming home.

What are these like for long drives?

ALSO

My 'tour de piste' is at 1010am on Friday. When and where do I need to be?

Helmets?
Tow eyes installed?

Anything?

I love it - a ticket has arrived and that's it!

Surprisingly compliant ride and is perfect for long trips. My V12 Vantage was a far harder ride in comparison. Just need to keep an eye on the front overhang/ground clearance and maximise storage/luggage space inside the doors, footwell, etc. Tend to travel light, but for long weekends it's fine. Plenty of power and traction with the Michelin Super Sports with the added bonus of being able to remove/store the roof panels when you've emptied the front well. Overall, brilliant car and such an experience and event to drive. The noise it makes ain't bad either.

First time at the classic for me. Four cars in our convoy. A Spitfire, Caterham, Sunbeam Alpine and my Tiger. Camping at Tertre Rouge with the Triumph crowd.

When I did mine some years ago we assembled at the bottom end of the Bugatti circuit. A large section of fence was then pulled aside and we entered the main circuit just below the pits. Did a lap and a bit to exit the circuit just after the Dunlop bridge and on to the top of the Bugatti circuit. Helmets, nomex, fire extinguishers, sobriety all seemed to be optional. Some years later, and French, who knows? smile

Hi all,
These will be going down in convoy from Norfolk on the Thursday morning via Euro-tunnel. First time for me, still trying to figure out to get all the stuff in the car!
Regards,
Andy

Some people will be in shorts and flip flops.

But choose your company well on the circuit. You could in amongst some right plonkers who actually think they are a race diver in the Kentucky derby. Put your foot down by all means. I would, but be careful as those around you might not be!!!

I was very nearly rear ended by a Marcos 2 years ago, came round arnage iirc and a Alfa spider was pointing the wrong way, the sagaris in front stopped quickly as did I in the cerbera, the Marcos probably with brakes like my mini had no chance in the pouring rain, lucky for me he took evasive action and went down my offside on the grass!

Take care out there!

Thanks for all your advice - I've read a few previous threads on the parade laps and that's certainly the take home message!

I'm going to be super careful and hope for the best. I'm driving a 997 GTS so I'll at least have modern brakes on my side!!
