I just checked to get breakdown cover for lemans, RAC want £88 and AA £74 for just 5 days cover. I thought this a bit steep.

Anyone suggest alternatives to look at.

Check your car insurance policy, you may have basic (or even better) European breakdown cover already included.

My car is insured with Lancaster, following an incident in France last year, the standard level of cover that was included in my policy covered recovering the car from the Autoroute and into Lyon, then moving it from Lyon to Luxembourg for repair, and two weeks hire of a Megane Scenic, all inclusive.

I didnt even know I had got the cover, they mentioned it to me when I rang to check on a minor detail about taking the car abroad.

I found last year I could increase cover with MSN insurance for a fraction of AA even though I've been a member for 30 plus years.

Not thunderbirds but they worked well when one of convoy had to be recovered back to the uk, they managed to get him back the same day.

I've used the AA for Le Mans cover for several years and usually only pay about £35 for five days cover. Is it so steep because your car is over ten years old? I think this makes a big difference.

Thanks Redboy, International breakdown were only £52 for my 17 year old Porka, so I've signed up with them. Very easy to deal with. Only £32 if you have a newer car.

Just over 3 months to go now
