And GTE isn't GT3, it started out being basically GT2 but is now much more like GT1 used to be. The overall volume is much reduced though hybrids and turbos have seen to that.
sorry guys, of course no more diesels now audi gone, and thanks for clarifying GT class. There are multiple threads on the glass/alcohol conundrum posted over the last couple of years since this all started.
The earlier poster who said inconsistent and wonderfully French nailed it.
Carrefour etc all now sell stubbie sized cans of beer - no glass. Yet these sometimes got confiscated too.
Coming back to Garage Vert on Thursday morning last year we got thoroughly searched for all alcohol, security were taking it off most people - not just glass, all of it.
The day before we were waved through no problem.
Luckily we had a Tesla Model S in the group which has more hidden luggage cubbies than you can possibly imagine!!

No one has mentioned how much busier it is..
Start finish straight for start and end are packed for hours before!!!
235,000 in 2006
263,500 in 2016
That's 28,000 more people watching in less then 1/2 a mile of standing space.
This is why I'm in stand tickets for the straight this time. I'm sat in Lagache. I fancied a change from the previous times and decided to sit at the straight this year.Start finish straight for start and end are packed for hours before!!!

More roundabouts.
Re-usable plastic beer 'glasses'.
Bar codes on tickets.
More police at roundabouts....
Fewer burnouts & general stupidity.
Porsche Curves closed to traffic.
Big screens around the circuit.
Improves viewing areas.
Beer is more expensive.
Pretty comprehensive list. Add to that more corporate vibe in the "village" and less crazy "racing" on the way down from the ferry to LM (due to increased policy presence and harsher penalties).Re-usable plastic beer 'glasses'.

I had about an 8 year break and when I returned it felt far more together as an event but far less fun as a result. I also think with the posher campsites having sprung up its segregated those with more cash from those on a budget. One of the things I loved about LM was an absence of any class - just car fans and just as likely to see a Diablo parked up next to a Focus both drinking st warm stubbies of French lager.
I am glad I did go back but haven't rushed to return since and yet it was the first thing in the diary each year once upon a time.
The strip club in the town centre has gone, or was that just a myth?
Glass beers; 2 years ago we just walked in holding the cardboard boxes the beers come in from Super U no problem, didn't try last year but worth a go.
Mad Friday doesn't have any decent action.
The corvette engines are smaller but still loud.
Ford battling Ferrari in the GT class is fun.
It always rains at Le Mans

Is the Tertre Rouge bar even still open?
When it was once just out the back of the Houx Annexe, it has rather been cut off from the action by the tramline and football stadium
If that's the one just under the bridge by the T junction then yeah, especially busy during football years! When it was once just out the back of the Houx Annexe, it has rather been cut off from the action by the tramline and football stadium

Go on, why didn't you like Bleu Sud?
I just found the atmosphere very flat in comparison and it was miles from the tram and inside of circuit. I'll concede that the fenced off private camping sections probably have a lot more life in them though, it was interesting to watch a continual stream of Chinese lanterns be launched from there and blow towards the airport the year I was there.
