Who else drove home in a car with no air-con?
Discussion
Bloody hell, that was ridiculous today. 500+ miles, 13 hours door to door and about 10kg lost in weight. It felt much worse in the UK, when I left the ferry it felt like I couldn't breathe - like pointing a hot hairdryer at your face while trying to drive. Did the last few hours with the roof up just to get some shade although it didn't help the temp much.
Many years ago now but similar weather to this race, i was in my Westfield with my brother and got stuck in Rouen in traffic for hours.
No roof or doors, we just sat there cooking.
In the end i covered myself in zinc cream just to try and stop the burning.
From that point on i decided that ideally i wanted my Westfield to get there in, and a 7 series to come home in.

A few years back we took a third person so had to go in my wife's (very old) C-class which turned out to be overheating. Fine on the move, not so good in traffic, to the extent that not only did we have the windows and roof open but, around Paris, we had the bloody heater on too. That was in the previous hottest ever year.............
My Aircon could not cope with the heat, it does not help that the exhausts run along in the side sills next to the drivers seat and having a lowered seat I got even hotter, you also have the heat from the Tremec 6 speed box the other side of you! I was constantly watching engine temp gauge and alternating between forcing hot air up onto the inside of the windscreen with both windows down to then switching the AC back on! Even oil pressure was wilting a bit in the traffic! After finally getting through British customs I boiled over and could not get out of the car quick enough!
Did the whole journey in the Cerbera with the windows open and air con off.
Thankfully we didn't get stuck in any traffic at all (including tolls as we have a Sanef tag and sail straight through) except for the riddiculous queues at the Eurotunnel yesterday created by UK customs. Opened the bonnet, switched the engine off and pushed the car through check in and to customs so as to cool the engine down.
It was very hot and yes we were a bit sweaty but nothing we couldn't handle. Think it wouldve been windows up and aircon on if we'd have got stuck in traffic

Yes - alone from Le Mans to Amsterdam yesterday in motorhome. No air con, about 70 mph maximum (but usually about 60 cruise), lost about an hour in Paris traffic (30-odd degrees and diesel cars in huge traffic jam does NOT feel good), then traffic around Antwerp (caused by some poor bugger's BMW 5 GT on fire) then traffic around Rotterdam.
11 hours journey, cold shower upon arrival at home felt AMAZING.

Sadly the Jag had the aircon re-gassed 4 days before the off, but that stopped working 3 days later!!
They wouldn't let me take the Cerbera as no-one wanted to sit in the back , but at least that has proper air con!!

Sadly, yep !
The Chimaera doesn't have AC. Boot was way too full so the roof had to stay on. Waiting at the Tunnel on the way home wasn't fun. Even worse was our carriage on the train had broken AC !! Moved to the next one of course, but it was even an effort doing that after all the heat soak I'd sat through.
Glad people are saying it felt hotter in the UK. The car ran distinctly warmer after getting off the train, to the point I though something was now wrong.
Still beats last year on the Monday driving through the biblical rain though...
