I heard an anecdote (so it must be true....) that you have to pay the entry fee when you submit your entry and don't get it back if you are not invited.

A figure of 'quarter of a million' was mentioned, not sure what currency that would have been.

The final allegation was that it was implied that "if you enter 2 cars you'll definitely get one of them" and the entry fees were paid in cash....

I also heard this, so it must be true. Also heard that the entry fee is less than the prize money for winning....from an equally reliably "bloke down the" pub source

According to the WEC website the entry fee for the year (excluding LM!) is 120k Euro.

but that is the least of the costs... you have to buy wifi... petrol is €5 a litre and only come in 200 l drums... team personnel have to be paid access for... team media people etc... even video cameras have to be individually paid for... if you have to drill a hole in the floor it costs a fine... if you are not out of the pits quickly enough after the race ... after a given time there is an hourly fine.... All fines are payable in cash... a good friend of mine who ran a team a couple of years ago always has €5000 in cash on his person in case the team was fined... no cards/cheques accepted,,, I have the official entry form but will not publish it it states all the fees
