Hi, you should all now be in receipt of the route - please let me know if you've not received it.

Received ok, thanks!

Looks really good.

Only small prob I've encountered is the 5th /final section is too large to import into google maps.
Hmmm, not sure why that's not working. I've sent you an email with a new link. If it works for you, I'll forward to everyone else. Thanks for letting me know.

Sorry folks - hold fire on transferring the route files to your devices... I'm tweaking them.

New files will be sent out soon.

4 pairs of shorts? Don't think I own four pairs.

Can I wear 1 pair 4 times?

Will this infringe the Classic dress code?
I don’t see why not - it’s only 5 days camping in 30 degree heat.

Oh, and I’ve just thought of something else to add to the list… Febreze.

As far as dress code goes, as long as you’re not wearing the team kit of whoever knocks France out the World Cup, I think they’ll just turn a blind nose.

I’ve been using mine regularly over the past month... until this week, it refused to complete a journey without breaking.

The last few days however, I’ve arrived at my destinations with clean hands!

I’m now pretty confident that it’ll at least make it to Folkestone.

And we still don't have cars to get there in yet... yikes Will keep you posted on our plans once we've got something sorted. We'll hopefully be able to join you for at least part of the drive down!
Only 1 week to go now!

Have you set off yet, as it's quite a walk? We'll report back how successful the PH Friday Service is if you don't make it in time!

Let me know if you still want to join us, it would be good having you along.

Good luck with the car blagging!

How are everyone's cars? Any last glitches to iron out, or nothing to do apart from check fluids and pressures?

My long list of works has finally had crossed off of it all items that 'have' to be completed just leaving a few items in the 'would be nice' to be completed column. The time has gone so quickly, originally having months to get things done since committing to the trip now down to the final weekend.

Really looking forwards to this now, see you all Thursday.
I am very scared tbh, what breakdown cover are people using for 25+ year old cars abroad?
There's a thread here...

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

It might be worth calling your insurance company though... My classic car policy covers the car for any euro trips up to 90 days long. If yours doesn't, you may be able to upgrade?

Otherwise, it looks like the AA & RAC will provide cover.

What iPhone navigation app would anyone recommended for route importing?

I have sort of done it in google maps, but its difficult to force the navigation on and it tends to re route to 'faster' routes and send back to autoroute!
I’m not sure why it’s not working.

If you’re running the Google Maps App, clicking on the links in the word doc will load the routes. I’ve added enough waypoints so it doesn’t matter how you’ve got your settings. Stage 1 is all autoroute. Stage 2 onwards avoid autoroutes. Seems to work fine on my iphone.

I’ll send you an email now with the links. Let us know if you’re still having issues.

Oh, and just a note for everyone - if you download an offline map to use on your device, it won't use up your data allowance.

Hi, looks like I'll be travelling down on the Thursday Morning Solo. The timings look quite close to yours.

Any possibility of joining the convoy?
Nothing exciting, just my E39 525d touring or Audi A4 Avant
Send me a PM with your crossing details and I’ll reply with some info.

Sadly we're not going to be able to make this now as we'll be travelling out later on Thursday, but hope you all have a great drive down and look forward to seeing many of you at the Friday Service!
No worries Ben... thanks for letting me know. Have a good drive down yourselves.

As long as the car survives, we’ll see you at the Friday Service.

Sorry... only just seen your requests for the route and too late now to send out. Maybe next time.

For every one else; see you in the morning!

Hope you all enjoyed the drive down… a big thankyou to theredmini, eastsider and Daxed for assisting in keeping the group together.

Apologies and thanks to you all for bump-starting me throughout the day – the car survived 950 miles with a broken starter motor.

What a great event! It was our first experience of the Classic and I can see us alternating between it and the 24hr now.

Hope you all had a decent drive home and maybe see you again for a future trip down to Le Mans.
