I am planning a 6 day Road Trip from/to Bilbao ferry in March.

We are thinking of Picos Europas and maybe some of the roads nearer the Pyrenees.

Would appreciate any ideas for epic roads and great places to stay

NB we are also considering delaying to early summer if driving conditions would not be good on some of the better roads

Check this one out. It's starts on the 16th June. Has three options, either 6 days (900miles), 8 days (1200miles) or the full 14 days. It is without doubt the best road trip in the Pyrenees and northern Spain. It is done on a completely non-profit basis so far cheaper than any commercial tour. This is NOT a Gumball style trip. Early booking is essential as spaces are filling up.

Is it possible to get the route info?

No advice on roads, but I really like San Sebastian as a place to stay!

Did a Northern Spain Road trip in the summer. Will try and post info later this week. I have routes, hotel recommendations etc.

We didn't do Pyrenees though as did that last year, this time we went into Portugal. Pico and other mountains in the area are stunning

Been to this area a few times, through the Picos, inland area and along the coast, over through Pamplona and as far as Andorra.
At the Spanish end, we've stayed in the pleasant towns of Potes - great road up to Fuente De - San Vicente de la Barquera, San Sebastian and Bilbao itself.
Most Spanish roads are good quality and relatively quiet; a noticeable change from the UK.
Going East, both St Jean de Luz and St Jean Pied de Port are interesting and pleasant.
Through the Pyrenees was spectacular but it's slow travelling, e.g. going over the Col d'Aubisque and other cols such as the Peyresourde is well worth it, but for instance check the driving times.

Just re-read the original post - some roads might still be closed!

Update - we are definitely going June rather than March; nomad and subzero is not a good mix!

This.

Not cheap, but a lovely city and very good food.

The N 260 is a hoon.
The converted monastery at Boltana is supposed to be a great place to stay
The Parador hotel at Vielha was nice :-)
Pamplona Catedral Hotel also great
Avoid Andorra

As in Ariel Nomad? If so it might be worth looking up the route that Harry Metcalfe did on his bikes - there are a few films on his YouTube channel.
