I did hear a story from a friend of mine upon my return that someone got done for doing 190mph in a Ferrari on the way down last week, car was instantly confiscated and driver was marched off to Prison! Don't know the full outcome yet!

That's a criminal record and a BIG, BIG cash sum to pay!

Went down on Wednesday, sat at around 100mph the whole way, not 1 police car, on the way back we stuck with a P1 most the way at around 100-130 not one police man, had the camera detector on the whole time! Living life on the edge!!

On Monday around Alencon and Argentan, there was a high police presence. Also coppers looking for people to stop check just outside Le Mans on the back roads.

Towing a caravan so never being silly, did see a few cars getting pulled though.

Also unmarked cars often seen driving round the campsite on Houx, plus a new system from Antares roundabout down Chemin Au Bouf road as now only accessible with Houx,Houx Annexe or Epinettes passes + A few of the other sites like TC. Basically to stop Mad Friday.

It was grim on the way home. Police in several areas, hiding a lot and a camouflaged camera just on the exit to one of the services aimed up the autoroute. What I would say is that Waze advised in advance...
I found Waze to be fantastic, totally accurate and certainly saved us getting a ticket at one point.
You need to be careful if you are using anything like Waze to highlight where the cameras are in France as its illegal to do so.

I saw more camera vans on the way back on Monday in England than in France on the A34.

Always done the cross country / back road routes to LeMans ,... now wonder wether the run to Classic LeMans is going to better on the motorways. 80 km/h is going to feel so slow on some of the glorious D roads

Certainly on Monday we were doing a steady 50mph as there were trucks on the roads avoiding the tolls. To be fair even still I prefer this route as much more relaxing. The cross country roads are good but if you are slowing to under 30mph for each village you can never really get going.

Dodge Viper wink
Traveled down Thursday AM (Police at Toll booth near Abbeville) then a clean run down to Le mans.
Returned Sunday up the A28 to Rouen, (pulled over by police at Rouen toll booth) then D roads to Overnight Chateau.
Back on A28/A16 Monday. ( police were on the RHS of the overhead bridge at Bologne on the monday, the bit where it went into a single lane for road works and a 70kph speed limit)

Another vote for Waze - first time I have used it, very useful
Interested in this, what is it and how does it work,
I'm not on FB and not very up with modern tech so if you could explain what you need to be able to use it I would be grateful.
Thanks

Fairly straightforward. You need a smartphone (Android or Apple) and download it from your app store. After that, it's just like Google Maps/Apple Maps but it pops up when other people have reported things (potholes, police, traffic, etc). You can register for an account but I don't think you have to.
