As I have just put a deposit down on a TVR T350c it looks like I will be taking this to Le Mans in place of my SEAT Leon Cupra R :D

Trouble is that the SEAT is covered with full SEAT Assist (AA) European break down so I have never needed to take out an extra European policy.

The TVR will come with UK break down cover as part of the warranty but this does not cover Europe.

Does anyone have any suggestions as far as a cheap European breakdown policy is concerned? I did a quote on the AA website and they are quoting £34.70. I think FerrySavers offered me cover when I booked the ferry but I didn't need it then.

I will also be travelling in Europe for a week and a half in July to go to the Nurburgring and Selvio Pass and would like breakdown cover for then. Is it worth getting a yearly policy?

Good move chopping in the Cupra-R for a TVR, I can highly recommend it

The prices I've been quoted for Euro breakdown cover are:

  • AA - £34.70 (as a member)
  • RAC - £23.94 basic, £36.76 comprehensive (as a member)
  • Direct Line - £33.08
  • Britiannia Rescue - £24
I think Britania's yearly policy would probably be ideal for you, as you'd have all the Euro cover you need.

I shall look at getting a whole years cover then and see if it is any cheaper than getting two separate policies out in the same year.

I have a feeling that insurance companies offer something like European cover as well, I will have to check when I sort the insurance out on the T350.
