Friends of mine camped at Spa last year. They had two tiny one person tents inside a 6x3 gazebo, which worked wonders, according to them. Nice and warm inside the tiny tents.

I seem to remember waking up on the morning of the race, to find it had been snowing hard, i was very glad that we had booked a chalet rather than camping.

Yes, race morning, didn't have much luck with the weather at Spa last year, went back in July for the 24 hours and had 2 days of 40C which is far too hot for me and 2 race days of pouring rain

Great pictures both...unbelievable!
I went to Spa WEC in 2013 and 2016, glorious weather - I was told by my mate who has been more than 20 times to Spa that we were very lucky. Hoping to return in 2022

While I have no confidence in 2020, I am getting more optimistic about 2021. Reading on BBC the Oxford vaccine now on test is partnered up with a pharmaceutical manufacturing giant in India to look at a global roll out by the end of this year. That would be good

That's an awful lot of tablets eek

I heard they're setting up the production line already, plus there's an American vaccine if the first one doesn't work

46 Pharma companies working on it around the world - I just hope the path is clear for full vaccination by this time next year, then our events will be on again. It's going to be a very good year if so - I'll never take any race for granted ever again!

After Porsche NA withdraw their two IMSA based entries, AutoHebdo now reporting it is likely Corvette will withdraw as well.

I don't think it's any more likely to be cancelled because teams have pulled out, there's no chance anyway, even without spectators it's too many people from too many paces coming together and then dispersing again

Yep, Porsche NA and Corvette obviously need to prioritise their primary Championship, IMSA, so very difficult to make the Le Mans trip work with all the uncertainty so I'd also expect the other IMSA teams to be close to or already have withdrawn. It is reported that Corvette told the ACO 'weeks ago', so this is not a knee jerk reaction.

One can only give one's own opinion (rather than Social Media where everybody is an expert and their postings are fact, of course), but I think it would be very worrying and ill advised for the race to take place, the same as the proposed race at Spa (Although I wouldn't be surprised for that race to be announced along with ELMS Prologue and race as an effective double header).

Im not sure how any international event with people coming and going from so many places can be allowed pre-vaccine. I can't see anyone agreeing to the risk.

When governments are announcing they can't save all the jobs, aviation industries are laying off hundreds of thousands, no one is going to treat a car race as an important event, not worth even one life lost.

Sadly I think this year is a write off. All eyes now on the vaccine for me these days

You'll be hiding behind your sofa for a long time if you're expecting a vaccine anytime in the next few years.

I'll quote you on that at the end of this year. I'm sure working for a global pharmaceutical firm who have expressed an opinion when I asked, and all the well publicised news on the 4 leading vaccines in developments might give me a slightly valid hunch.

Without one the world will be "hiding behind the sofa" for a long time to come, because they wont want the problem. I don't do hiding by the way, I just follow the rules.

Ooh get you and your supercilious attitude.

Anyway if they can race, they'll race. The ACO don't postpone except for war or civil disobedience.
