What I should be doing now

What a shame. Many cancers are curable nowadays, or at least can be fended of for a time.

Been going to LM24 from 1996, not every year though. Sometimes with my son.
Always been a late starter for heading off to LM so right now we'd be on Le Shuttle and then a drive to our hotel for Friday and Sunday stay over, usually near Alencon or Falaise. Stop for lunch today on the way.----if we are using the N128 then we'd stop just after joining south of Rouen. Get to the hotel and then a few beers before heading off to a local excellent restaurant ahead of the great day/weekend.
Saturday morning. Had a good breakfast at the hotel, now on the A28 for an hour or so run to the circuit, outskirting La Mans itself. Park up at our designated space in Parking Blanc, say hello to our new neighbours for the next two/three days, then get inside, get to our tribune seats at La Racccordement, check out the large TV screen opposite, and crack open a few tins of 1664 to soak up where we are etc. Will have our first jambon et fromage baguette for lunch I expect along with more 1664 after buying the obligatory plastic glass as a memento of 2020.Always been a late starter for heading off to LM so right now we'd be on Le Shuttle and then a drive to our hotel for Friday and Sunday stay over, usually near Alencon or Falaise. Jeanie's (or Jeannine's if you prefer) has sold the bar to the ACO and they will demolish it and build a hotel. She had been there over 40 years. The weather has ranged from 6C in the morning to 16C and steady heavy rain on Thursday but better today except for one hell of a downpour at 6pm at Mulsanne. The weekend isn't looking good. However, a number of the faithful are out there camping and virtually enjoying themselves.

never really frequented bars around the circuit but I been everywhere else,,,, incl Hotel France I moved to Scotland in 2016 and in 2017 I found out that it is just too far to drive there and not really worth the effort with the rather poor grid these days so I think I have called it a day Much easier to watch on TV especailly as I was spending most of the time at circuit on my own anyway despite two travel partners in the process I am saving a lot of €€€I would now be waking up feeling utterly ste having been to the drivers parade and then out in the town.
Friday is without doubt a great day and I have so many stories about Friday, jumping over the fence and getting involved in the parade etc I could write a book.
As it happens, 6 of us are meeting today, camping with a big marquee, loads of beer, a BBQ and virtual LM on a huge TV.
I will no doubt wake up tomorrow feeling utterly ste!

Sat pm: watching the start on the dusty banking down from the Dunlop Bridge., then back to camp to get into the cars for Arbor.
The Baguette they give you serves as a late lunch. About 730pm we drive back to base, then onto the bikes to cycle to our favourite restaurant on the Mulsanne Straight. The wine is flowing, and the steak is good.
About 11pm we have a wobbly ride home, pick up jumpers or fleeces, then cycle to Tertre Rouge...and there we shall have 2 hrs of bliss, and no one will say a word...the sound of those cars is just mesmerising

Friday morning: I've arrived at the circuit late for pit lane walkabout, mainly on account of my very late night and seething hangover. We drive down to the circuit parking as near to the Museum entrance as we can...hmm, museum - I know we were there yesterday but...it would be rude not to. There's a churning in my stomach.
As I get to the entrance I can feel the bomb doors opening. Race to the gents - that air conditioning, the nice clean surfaces. Target sighted, ok chaps...bombs away!! Wednesday nights Chinese flies out, followed (after a bit of a push) by some of last nights steak frites. I feel several pounds lighter, there's a definite spring in my step as I head my group down the hill to the pit lane walkabout entrance.
This afternoon will be spent at St Saturnin - don't know the score with this venue, but will use it to nap, listen to the Senior TT over the internet, and more napping while my group walk around drooling over Porsche 911s or something. I'm expecting there will be some good stuff available for lunch there.
