Spectator announcement

Could you politely suggest to them that it might be an idea to make a proper announcement, what with thousands of people having booked travel plans?
What, and break the habits of a lifetime! They won't know what they're doing till the day before. One spike that week and its all off. With any luck, they'll do it in the pit straight so you can look on from the grandstands. Its usually last minute, but good thinking.

Had a long chat with a restaurateur yesterday and he was very downbeat. Like all the tourist trade, he relies on footfall, and this year there has been zero, zilch, nada. With the race put back to September, the ACO will probably have difficulty finding students to fill the nearly 1,000 jobs for the race, such as directions, parking, paddock security and all the other little things we take for granted. And many of the marshals are not coming either. My local bar/restaurant told me that they are not doing anything because they don't know how many people are coming, or even whether the return of Covid will mean that at the last minute it will be held behind closed doors. As you can gather, people are very negative about things and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. Just think on what has been lost already this year. 24 Hour Motor bike, (will now be held but behind closed doors) 24 Hours Trucks, Le Mans Classic, Moto GP, and then there are all the other events that people don't think of. Barely a day goes by that I don't hear the roar of engines from the circuit, but this year silence. Even though the circuit has been reopened I don't hear anything. Many shops closed during lockdown and are not reopening.
In Nuremberg the local city withdrew the licence for the race when it was announced that there would be no spectators. Too much hassle and costs without any benefits for the local economy to compensate for the disruptions and costs to arrange the circuit.... just like in MansIf only people would bother to spend a minute (maximum) on the internet before spreading false rumours - sigh.

Don't bother. gt6 has been bleating such st ever since the ACO announced that the 24 would go ahead in Sept. Hopefully the mods will remove his unsubstantiated nonsense PDQ.
gt6, you ought to be ashamed of yourself.

I've seen on another forum where GT6 has got his info from and see no reason to doubt it, if you have local contacts who has confirm either way it"d be very useful, I'm booked to go out on the Saturday and the rest of my group are looking to book a Monday night crossing this week
He probably posted it there himself. He got the info from "he" and it was "he" who got an email from the ACO about scruteneering and not the campsites opening times. Bear in mind that gt6 "heard" the info...if he got it from another place then why not post a link?
Nah...he's got a bee in his bonnet because the ACO won't answer his email...despite the info being on the official ACO site.

The poster on the other forum isn't GT6, and he's normally one of the first on Tertre Rouge on the Sunday morning, so I believe him when he says he's had an email from the ACO.
This has always been a pleasant and helpful forum, getting personal isn't really needed.
To others reading this, if this were for real then surely a link to the forum in question would have been posted by now? This has always been a pleasant and helpful forum, getting personal isn't really needed.
I get the impression the ACO website involves a lot of cut and paste from one year to the next. So wouldn’t be surprised if the dates for September are just copied across without thought.
Also, be reducing the time in camp sites, it reduces their efforts for ticket marshalls, extra security, toilets and of course reduces the possible congestion for the virus and time to spread for any infected folk.
As has been mentioned, this could all change the week of the race when most people including me will already be in France and on the way.

I was wrong as to who got the email, not that it really matters. where did the idea that it's 2 pm the site open open come from? That's not on the email is it?
It was stupid of me getting tied up with it all in the first place...as others have stated, it could all change and at any time.Gassing Station | Le Mans | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
