Campsite opening time is just this year's drama, we get one most years, normally involving strike threats or fishermen blockading ports, it's all part of the fun
There's still time for someone to announce they've heard there will be no alcohol on sale in a 50km radius of the circuit biggrin

...but the person behind who had a case of stubbies strapped to a luggage rack on their boot got waved through...

The ban is on glass, not alcohol itself isn’t it? Though I’m not sure security know which way around it is either sometimes.

We normally take in a bottle of wine, but got stopped with it one year. Different entrance and put inside a rolled up blanket and carried rather than in the bags they were focusing on got it through!

However, now take in a box of wine instead, with bag removed from box. Seems to work.

Nice bit of red with our baguettes before race start.

Maybe they are applying the Moto event rules. One bottle of whisky or a dozen bottles of beer, from memory. But it is observed in the breach, and many construct false floors.

But, returning to this year's 24 Hours, I was speaking to a chief marshal the other day and he has but 16 for the race where he usually counts on 26. He told me that people are frightened of the virus, some can't get the time off, and others are short of money. Pray for good weather and no serious accidents. Well, that is if it isn't run behind closed doors and the camp sites are open, that is.

our Poste has 29 lined up when we usually have 34, so not too bad. However if there is a change to a policy of French residents only (see DTM at Spa where no foreign marshals permitted) it would be down to 6. As ever with our French friends, it'll be sorted one way or the other at the last minute.

If they do that to Post 70 then there will be only two marshals

ame as the campsite info on the ACO website (which appears to have now been removed), I think this is just another example of the June schedule being amended to the exact equivalent days/dates/times for the new Le Mans week in September, and before any subsequently necessary changes have been made to the originally planned schedule for the week. My tickets, which show the original June dates, state 'VALABLE DU 9 (14h) AU 14 JUIN 2020', also Tuesday to Sunday. The first scheduled activity at the circuit for fans was due to be the (now cancelled) driver autograph session on the Tuesday afternoon, which has to be the reason EG ticket validity shows as beginning on the Tuesday at 2pm. Lots of misinformation flying around, the ACO really do need to nail down the intended schedule and advise race goers as soon as possible, as well as remove any out of date information on their website.
Interesting to know the original June tickets said Tuesday 2pm too. Guess we'll wait and see then.
Cheers smile

Well, I've just spent 30 minutes on line to the ACO, first having been told by the receptionist that because it will be cold the camping sites will open Wednesday and not Sunday. I asked to speak to someone to confirm that this was true. I then get a answering machine message telling me to send them an email and that they will reply as soon as they can. I rang again, was kept on hold and then the same message. So I have emailed them and await a reply. The receptionist could not understand why people wanted to come earlier than Wednesday! More anon.

Again thanks for trying, i understand that the ACO are under enormous pressure but surely they have sorted out a plan and advised all the staff what that plan is?.

Cheers T, it's appreciated.

Sounds like it's back to the good old days of the ACO where every time you ask them they give a different answer and when you arrive they have changed their mind about it all anyway!!

smile

I'm fairly chilled about when the campsites open. We're not planning on arriving until Wednesday anyway.

Got this from ACO site and says September.
All campsites are open from 09:00 on Sunday 13 September. Your vehicle and your camping equipment (tent, tables, chairs, etc.) must fit on the 35m² pitch. Each vehicle (car, motorbike, camper van) must have its own access pass, left visible on the dashboard.
May or may not be true.

Pearls before swine!
Next time you may or may not want to read my comments regarding Le Mans, you can find them on the other "fanciful" forum.
If you know which forum I'm talking about, you know were to find it. If not, then not.
Au revoir.

There is limited point in coming before the Wednesday but that ignores the fact that many Brits will have booked ferries for June and when the race was postponed rebooked for the same days in September. Ferry companies may be less willing to shift the bookings again now.

It’s not to bad for me as we are booked on the 11pm Newhaven Dieppe ferry so will not be at the circuit mid morning but others could have a problem
