I guess that'll see them try to give each campsite a chunk of the trackside. There'll be no "village" as that'll be for the teams to use and they won't want us mingling. My best guess as yet is that:

  • Maison Blanche is penned in, everything from the MB entrance to the Porsche Curves;
  • Bleu Sud gets the Ford Chicane chunk from the MB entrance up to the start/finish where the main "walk in GE" is;
  • Bleu Nord has from the main "walk in GE" up to the main "drive in GE";
  • Tertre Rouge has the main "drive in GE" to the top
  • Houx gets the stretch by the kart track
  • Epinettes gets the stretch at the top where the village normally is up to the Dunlop Bridge
  • Annexe gets the bit opposite TR
I'm hoping that the numbers are small enough that they can collapse some of those together as, as much as I adore MB, I don't fancy being penned in to that space for the whole week. It's possible they'll use their traditional colour codes to collapse everyone together with that colour (if the numbers are small enough), so for instance the top three in the list above will be "Bleu", and the bottom 3 above will be "Green", each with a full run up the side of the track.
Surely it makes more sense to zone people based on grandstand. You're in close proximity anyway. You can socially distance on a Campsite.

So for those who have tickets, what's the verdict - would you rather be going under these circumstances, or not at all, and watch on TV at home?
Going of course. Daft question.

For me it depends, if we get dumped in BSJ which if the map I posted in the other thread is correct, then you'll only have access to a small part of the Porsche Curves then I might not bother.

If we can stay on Epinettes as planned and can view from TR and the Esses then that's pretty good and still worth doing (although I can't see there being room for any temporary stands there)

Each village will have a big screen, so no worse than watching at home.

Think that's made the decision for us - we were all in two minds.

Given that we don't know what area we will be penned into or what facilities will be available there - 6 plots on bleu nord now moved to 2021.

Our reasoning is that most of the enjoyment of Le Mans is the wandering around to different locations, to watch the race and enjoy the atmosphere.

See you all in '21

Interesting as we are camping in Beausejour, have parking tickets for Expo and Grandstand tickets in Panorma (next to Dunlop).

I think we’ll still go, even if we will miss being able to wander the circuit. Probably still go in to Le Mans city centre on Friday for a nice meal but will drive instead of the tram.

Did the ACO give you a credit then for
Camping and general entry.

There's also the drive to the coast from oop north, night in Ashford, traditional beer at Stanford near Eurotunnel, crossing and causal drive to Deauville, night out there, the drive to Le Mans on Wednesday, find our gaff, beers, bbq, Thursday visit TR Stella Bar for eye opener, visit Arnage village, visit Mulsanne village, visit actual GE "village", visit Hotel Arbor, ditto Friday, ditto Saturday, Sunday drive to Bolougne for night after the race, then home Monday.

I hate to say this, but the Stella bar has been closed for the last week. So many businesses are closing here, so let's just hope that this is just the annual holiday. Just to be sure, I assume you are talking about the bat at Tertre Rouge at the top of the Mulsanne. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on the situation from time to time.

Do you ever head out to Arnage? If so, how's things looking out there for the bars and restaurants?

Being there, hearing the cars, seeing the cars, eating steak frites, no wife and kids, Radio Le Mans.....yes, it would be rude not to.

The funny thing is my 3 favourite spots are almost isolated in normal times...this will be no different

Rarely nowadays, but I can't imagine things being much different there. The Arlequin (next to the roundabout in the centre of the town) will thrive because so many people eat there. On the other side of the coin, I hear the high=class restaurant called the Auberge de Matfeux is suffering badly. Today's paper is full of doom and gloom about when furlough comes to an end, and the number of unemployed there will be. I lunched in Mulsanne today and took a photo of the menu. Called The Break and very good value for the price. Near the church so look for the spire. 50 yds away a new pizzeria has opened to take over from the old one, and they are doing sandwiches too. Can't be worse that the one on the main road.

Interesting to see the use of English for green/red curry and 'sweet and sour'. Perhaps the French are so disdainful of foreign foods they can't bring themselves to Frenchify the names.

Or perhaps it is because the bar owners speak english?

We booked with Brian at 1st Tickets - and the email they sent us yesterday gave us the choice to go this year, or transfer for free to next year and keep the same camping plots, travel arrangement etc.

Just had to click the link in the email - and job done

Of course there is one slight issue - that I'm going to be travelling down on the wife's birthday - but I'll cross that bridge a lot nearer the time biggrin
