2021 - Don't get too excited
Discussion
I’ve mentally got Le Mans in June out my head, so there won’t be the same huge disappointment as last year. Even now, I just can’t see it happening then with spectators.
They could run behind closed doors in June or hang on and see if attendance is possible with the sept race again. Do you stick with traditional date and accept the lose of spectators again, knowing it is much easier to create a race bubble?
I suspected tickets would at least go on sale by the time the vouchers automatically refunded.

Given the financial implications, they will do everything possible to get a crowd there. Even if that means September. The 24h motos has gone behind closed doors, but stuck with the original dates, can't see that happening with the cars though
24 Motos is usually in April, and Le Mans is not their biggest event. Its not the biggest loss and they want to run the full series this yr im guessing The UK Transport Secretary on 'This Morning' (Quote from The Guardian)
Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, caused a row with the travel industry in April last year when he said people should not book a summer holiday and now he has done it again. In an interview on the Today programme he said that, “on the shrinking chance” that anyone was thinking about a summer holiday, he would advise them not to book anything now - not just abroad, but domestically too.
Given that dreaming about a holiday is one of the things people are most likely to be doing in lockdown, it was an odd form of words. Here is the quote in full.
" First of all, I should say, people shouldn’t be booking holidays right now, not domestically or internationally ...
On the shrinking chance that there is anybody listening to this interview at this stage, and thinking of booking a holiday under the current circumstances ... and until we know the route out of lockdown, which we can’t know until we have more data, more information on vaccines as well, please don’t go ahead and book holidays for something which, at this stage, is illegal to actually go and do - whether it’s here or abroad.
And, further down the line, I simply don’t know the answer to the question of where we’ll be up to this summer; it’s too early to be able to give you that information. You would want to wait until that’s clear before booking anything. So the best advice to people is do nothing at this stage."

I believe it was announced today that festivals in France for 2021 will be limited to 5000 people.
I guess that is the death knell for both LM24 and LMC in the traditional format, I guess LM24 might run behind closed doors again but think LMC will be put back to next year, restoring the traditional timings

Closed doors doesn't worry me...but what i do need is a firm date. Anyone know when they will confirm the date for 2021? I can't believe they wont move it to September I guess that is the death knell for both LM24 and LMC in the traditional format, I guess LM24 might run behind closed doors again but think LMC will be put back to next year, restoring the traditional timings

Don't forget last year they had 'villages' to get round that limit.I guess that is the death knell for both LM24 and LMC in the traditional format, I guess LM24 might run behind closed doors again but think LMC will be put back to next year, restoring the traditional timings
Or am I just living in hope?

As long as we can travel I intend to be there this year, closed doors or nor, there are plenty of good things to get up to and vantage pointsI still think it will be behind closed doors again, whether that is June or a later date.
Further reports of rising cases in France with lockdowns again. Add to that a seemingly slow vaccination roll out with a population who are apparently anti-vax and it isn’t sounding too positive.
Doesn’t matter if all the visitors are vaccinated, the priority will be protection of the local population and infrastructure if they are at risk.
My current thinking will be to buy a couple of general entry tickets but allow my 2020 vouchers to be automatically refunded. Then if it does somehow go ahead and they restrict numbers into villages, I have at least some tickets rather than being shut out.

I saw this morning that the vaccination program in the UK is going so well that they are thinking of hosting the Euros in the UK this year. They are already planning to host the final at Wembley. This gave me some hope that Le Mans will be back to normal this year.
We could offer to host Le Mans in the UK, Cadwell pleaseFredericRobinson said:
