Rev - I was probably sat next to you at the time! The distance to the Lambo is about the normal distance from a spectator to the track at the bottom of the Dunhill Bridge. Perfect pre-race test I think.

That's your fault for being popular and being best man to someone who obviously doesn't appreciate what Le Mans means to people!

I agree, a despicable crime. I have been sentenced to do double the amount of burnouts come 2004 race weekend!

A Farmers Field, nice and bumpy, and when its dark and you are pished its highly likely that you will disappear down a hole.

Was in there two years ago when it chucked it down and it was like a marsh, but then it was like a marsh every where.

Its not to far from the track start/finish line but the shower block/toilets is a nightmare(hey its Le Mans).

When we stayed there 5 years ago they made the showers in Houx Annex look like the Hilton, in fact I can't remember there being any showers only a toilet caravan, with a huge queue every morning and lots of German's just p1ss1ng where they stood outside there tents

Blue's not so bad, anyway why do you need to shower - are you taking women? It's the home of the Caterham's, and very handy for getting out to Arnage village for Breakfast and provisions and for the corners at night if you're sober enough.

We'll be there in either the Alfa or possibly Trevor's Griff, alongside one S2000, a Boxster, 4 Caterham's and a Cobra.

Oh yeah, we've got a "Your mother wouldn't like it yello" MGB coming along too - Jeremy is your dad bringing his Morgan this year or what?

don't think so hence the mg is going again! Besides he does not have a luggage rack so you would have to take our luggage!

The plan to buy a Cerbie and run down in that has been replaced by an Impreza P1 (oh, stop boo'ing all you tiv owners).

Still it should make the jouney far more interesting on the N roads.

See you there!

I need to ask you chaps to help me with a moral dilemma, me being a Le Mans virgin and all.

Found out that we've got two sites reserved in Le Houx from Friday to Monday! ("get down with your bad self" I hear you cry!), but there are 8 of us going in total and the sensible thing to do is take the two big estates available to us and cram all our gear in those.

Thing is, I'm buggered if I want to be sensible!
It seems to me that half the fun is in the drive there and back and I'd like to take my car (Datsun 200sx) as well.

So are your cars in a separate car park or do you keep them with you at the Le Houx?

How many cars are allowed per site? (if applicable)

If the only thing stopping me from driving myself is the extra ferry/chunnel fare then I think it'd be worth the extra, what say y'all??????

Dave,

In Houx you are only allowed 1 car and 1 tent per pitch. Once inside the site I'm not sure how they police this, as lots of groups park all the cars together on 3 or 4 pitches, and all the tents together on the remaining pitches. The problem is getting the car in in the first place. You have to display your camping permit in the windscreen.

Perhaps you could 'temporarily' mount the permit in one car, leaving another car down the road. Then once car 1 is in, remove the permit, stick it in car 2, and then drive that one in!!

Trouble is everytime you all want to go out, you'd have to go through the same routine whenever you come back!

I've never tried it, but I'm sure there are those here that have.

Good luck, and c u in Houx!

Not sure about this 1 tent per pitch stuff.

CarZee and I had one pitch last year which was massive, and happily had two tents (small hike tents admittedly) in our pitch and so did many many others?

As far as I could work out, it was a case of it's your pitch, you decide what to do with the space...

Cheers chaps,
Tentage won't really be a problem as we've got access to a fairly large plastic job that'll probably fit us all at a squeeze, plus a huge canvas mess tent (probably will be after the weekend anyway ), it's really down to whether or not I'd be able to squeeze my trusty steed in somewhere....so to speak.
I suppose I could just hide my car in the big tent and be the only person there with a carport!!!!!!

Would be grateful if someone could confirm or deny that it's only one car per pitch........

It will be roof down all the way there and back, regardless of the weather!
Camping in Le Houx.
Got a spare ticket at the moment, and possibly a spare seat in the car. (wifey NOT keen to go after all)

Hi Dave,

Yes, it is one car per pitch - you get one ticket per pitch from ACO, which has to be stuck on your windscreen to gain access to the site.

Smiffy is right though, what you do with your pitch and what you put on it is up to you.

There was a guy in Houx last year with a yellow Porsche (I think he was German) and he had that parked inside a massive tent...it was even on a groundsheet!

Oh well, looks like I'll be stuck in the back of a blimmin' 5 series all the way there and back!
Unless of course I could get my hands on a spare car pass......

(Thinking cap firmly on)

Anyone got the email addy. for the ACO?, I might see if I can blag a pass on the grounds that I'm very tall, or something equally obscure.
