Le Mans Classic Parade Laps
Discussion
We had an epic experience too.
Things were a bit crowded to start with, however it all got a bit quicker, spread out and exciting for the second lap.
Getting overtaken by a pair of historic hard top Cobras was a bit puzzling as they made there way up the field -as we were all behind the pace car. However it was a great sight and they sounded fantastic. I want one.
At the front we had a Ferrari and a GT3 RS that sneakily slowed to let the pace car disappear around the corner. That turned out to be an excellent strategy. I held 5,000 rpm for a minute as I could see what was going to happen next. They both nailed it and I saw a figure well in excess of 150mph as we appeared in the pace cars rear view mirror a couple of minutes later. The C2 held its own very well indeed against the more powerful competition.
At the end of the last lap, I inadvertently drove through the club areas back to to the start by mistake. The girl at he track entrance scanned the ticket again, the machine said yes(again) and I got a second go! You have got to love the French.
So I let my friend have a turn at the wheel this time, what a result. 160 mph before breakfast with a hangover!
Happy Days, cant wait until next time.

I wish I’d held back a bit at the start for the laps. Although it wasn’t a ‘track day’, it would have been nice having a bit of freedom around the lap.
I also thought about trying it on going around again, because no one gave a damn about my ticket for the 1st lap. Don’t think it was even scanned, just held it up in the car and waved through.

We were on the 0830 session on the Friday.
What an great experience…a couple of pinch points on the first lap but once you got a feel for it the next two laps were certainly spirited…145mph up the straight in an old transaxle certainly felt fast enough for me..the the only slight worrying moment being with a group of annoying wasps (lotus/caterham types
Just the history of the track and the sheer variety of cars seemed to make the experience all the more special.

Absolutely. It’s a no brainier.
Absolutely. Really surprised either someone officially or a private individual hasn’t got cars going through a key location.
A few flyers around the club sections and lm word of mouth with links to a website to buy the image.
I know I’d have paid for a nice shot without hesitation.
It certainly was and maybe still is a thing at the Nurburgring on a private basis.

Great idea! I'll take my decent camera next year
Lets make you the official PH photographer!I will be in a car at some time on the parade lap next year, I can let you know the time and car when I know them, just let us know which part of the track you are and we can pose!
I participated in the parade laps on both days. My in car footage is here: https://youtu.be/y1cnySudgbw
Politeperson - I believe your Porsche features a fair bit in the second half.
