Radio LeMans and Headphones

Advice please - Off to LeMans this year and want to be able to listen to Radio LeMans. Found a standard radio and earbud didn't really cut it last visit, so does anyone have recommendations for ear defender style headphones that mute exhaust noise to some extent (sacrilege I know! but I do like to know whats going on around the circuit) and will produce good radio reception without breaking the bank?

A good question as I’ve been having the same thoughts.
I normally use the in ear headphones and then put ear defenders over the top of that but quite fancy something combined for more comfort this year.
I’ve been looking at the 3M Peltor worktunes but had read a couple of reviews that suggested the radio reception wasn’t that good so I’m untested if anyone has any lemans experience with these.

Having tried many different options over the years I'd 100% say cheapish, battery powered over ear headphones with built in FM radio. Mine came from a now defunct high street retailer but plenty on eBay and Amazon. There are pairs from £12.99 that would do the job - https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Portable-AM-FM-Radios/969...
1. They are cheap so minimising the risk of someone wanting to pinch them.
2. They are battery powered so just carrying a few spare batteries covers it running out - no trying to find a USB charger and power.
3. It's just running an FM reciever which uses minimal power compared to say Bluetooth.
4. The FM receiver's built in so no cable running to another device to get on your tits after a few hours.
5. Sure they don't have all the noise cancelling bells and whistles of a £450 pair of B&O noise cancelling headphones but you're not trying to cut all noise out (try going to the middle of Iceland rather than Le Mans if you want to cut out all the car noise), just protect your hearing a bit and let you hear the RLM coverage in relative comfort.

I wouldn't advise using the Internet to stream radio. Everytime I've been to le mans the networks get very saturated. I haven't been since 2017 so things may have improved. WonkeyDonkey said:

There's also a huge delay. I did this in the grandstand in 2019 and there was at least a minutes delay between what happened on track and when I hear about it.I can’t praise the 3M/Peltor ear defender/radio options enough.
There are cheaper options, but we bought those for someone who we thought wouldn’t come back year after year and they were rubbish.
Have 3 sets of the peltors in various forms. I use the ones with the active hearing which is good. Able to have conversation or adapt how much atmosphere noise you want or block it all out and just have radio. The cheaper ‘worktunes’ work well also.
The peltors have all worked faultlessly for many visits to the race. Though they do just sit in a bag until each or mans trip.
