Just got a quote for £174.

It would be peace of mind should the worst happen but also yet another expense for the trip.

I know I won’t be going off track into barriers because I won’t be driving like that. It is just the factor of someone else doing something stupid and plowing into the back of you to consider.
Yep, read my post.

As for the other parties Its called tough st!, You have taken out cover, if they choose not to then that's down to them!
As soon as I get the confirmed 1st Tickets session details in the post, which I think is the Saturday morning, I'll get this booked. Considering what I'm paying in fuel to get there and back from Yorkshire, adding this on is a cert.

Are they actually parade laps with a pace car going steady governing a gentle pace. Or are they track-laps???

A few videos online seems to look fairly gentle paced and respectful.

There wasn’t much behind me last time and we still managed a ton down the straights! A few cars dropped out the back with a very slow 1st lap and then shot past us at warp speed on lap 2 when the track was clearer!

I'm been comms with Brian at 1st Tickets this morning already & asked the question as I'm on the Saturday morning parade lap session booked through him - he has confirmed that mine is at 08.00 hrs so hopefully you'll be on the same one thumbup

I will try to explain again, Yes there are pace cars out there, but the pace cars do not drive at 30mph! There will likely be a pace car at the front, possibly one in a middle section and their might be one at the end, There are a LOT of cars let out on track at the same time, their will be some slow bunching in certain areas, you might even stop, but there will then be gaps where you can start overtaking other cars (on either side as you wish), It is Not Like The Silverstone Classic where various groups of brand cars stay together. you will likley not see the pace cars as the front car will be long gone at speed.

Here here is a Video from back in 2012 my first track "parade session" In the beginning I am in the follow the car in front mode, then i started to realise I could put my foot down. it might help you? (It all depends how much traffic you encounter).

Yep, tickets arrived this morning, 08:00-08:30. Also got yellow parking sticker for the PH parking area.

Does anybody know where you have to meet and at what time for the 8am parade? From the Fatboy onboard you seem to join at the Ford Chicane area, so assuming I just head for the Yellow parking, wave my parade ticket around and head towards that about 7:30. Then return to PH parking and leave car there while for the day. Also assuming the parking is for all 3 days, so probably better location than Blanc which I'd paid for.

I have received info that you should be at your car 30 mins before the parade lap.

You will be collected from your allocated parking area. (75 is the 1st tickets area). I’m also on the 0800 parade laps joining the 1st tickets session, but parked at 73.

It says to allow plenty of time get into the circuit. This is via Porte Garage Vert which you have to take a bit of a detour to get to.

After the session you will return to your parking area.

I think I will plan to arrive at the circuit 0700 minimum.

Cheers, will aim for the same sort of time, we're coming from the south so will just head through the interior road round to Vert entrance.

I will not do the parade laps because so many idiots think they are better than Schumacher and drive atrociously.. They have no idea that overtaking should be on the left, NEVER on the right, for example. The most dangerous places will be the Dunlop chicane and Mulsanne bend where they come up the inside too fast and can't get round, the G-forces pushing them outwards and if you are on their left you can be in trouble.Be very careful everywhere.

As regards insurance, mine is more expensive but covers all hill climbs and track days for the year.It is your choice as to whether you take it out or not. The worst example I have seen was a DB5 who, on pit straight, braked to a halt to wave to friends in the stands and got rear-ended causing a lot of damage to both cars.

Finally, have you all received your tickets? I had a call today from someone racing two cars and they have sent the passes for him, his four mechanics, the transporter and the mobile home to someone else in the UK. I have managed to fix it with the press office and I'll be picking up all the necessary for him from the signing on behind the MMA football stadium. I believe there are lot of people who haven't been sent tickets because the ACO got them too late and will have to go and pick them up. Be sure to have your passport with you as proof of identity.

The weather forecast has changed and is forecasting thunderstorms on Friday and rain all Saturday. If this doesn't change, the parade laps will be even more dangerous than usual. You have been warned.

Can’t wait! Finally time to get back to Le Mans.

And even happier getting home to these, cheers Ian… (would you say 0700 arriving at the circuit is early enough on the Saturday?)

Just out of interest… do you mean you’d enter under the bridge at Porsche curves and go up that way? Coming from south also and that could be quicker than that little detour you have to do off motorway.

I’m veering towards insurance, an expense I was trying to risk assess out.

You are correct, you line up at the lower end of the Bugatti circuit, then they will wave you out onto the track and off you go. smile

Yep, turn left at BSJ roundabout, passed Karting and Houx, turn left at roundabout after MMA. Never been down there, always head right under TR.

So the instructions arrived for the parade laps, all seems as mentioned, park at PH area #75, get collected, enjoy the drive.

But what confuses me is the line "Your vehicle should then be left on display throughout the weekend".

I might well leave the car there on the Saturday, but all weekend? I assume we could come and go as we wanted.

Yes to the tickets & I was also told the same reason as you explained. I think they'll be a queue to be either first or last in the parade laps purely for safety purposes (how often do you hear people asking that they'd like to be last to do something??!!)

The roads around the circuit will be busy on Saturday morning but probably (hopefully!) not as busy at 0700 as it will be a bit later. The organisers have assured me there will be a separate queue at the entrance for everyone doing the parade laps and our parking area is not far from the Garage Vert gate so getting to the circuit at 0700 should be ok. My advice is aim to be earlier than might be necessary - the impact of getting up and out 15 minutes earlier is much less than being 15 minutes late for your session...

I'll be getting there around 0700 as well (but walking from the campsite) so I'll see you there wink
