Just got a Road Angel detector thing, can anybody tell me if I can use it on my way to La Mans or is it elegal in France.

I have heard that they are ilegal and the cops take them off you and even stamp on them

And worse - I've heard more than one report of cars being impounded! Leave it at home.

Besides, AFAIK none of the GPS camera devices know the locations of fixed-location devices outside of the UK, so your Road Angel will stay silent for the entire trip!

From what I've heard from a Le Mans veteran, they crush the RA and fine you £1000. Not worth it as not sure they work there anyway..

Christ yes, my ownly other choices are the family Mondeo and my old Celica

Bonnet opening or not, I'll be there in the S I'm so looking forward to a blast down the French roads.

It's not that posh, a Garmin GPS V (B&W and no annoying voice) with suction mount on top of the dash, just bought all the European maps ready for Le Mans and trips next year.

Don't intend of using it in anger for Le Mans, but damn handy when I've no passenger to map read.

Only problem is with the indicators on the volts flick up and down, and it thinks that I've switched off the ignition!
